Unique Content for Search Engines

How unique does an article/post need to be until it is considered not duplicate and can rank on google, etc...?

Thanks
Noah

    Hi Noah,

If you're talking about articles on the same site,
then you need at least 30% uniqueness. If the
articles are to be posted on multiple sites, then
they don't need to be unique at all.

Like if I take a PLR article and want to post it on my blog, I want it to be unique enough to rank in the search engines so its not considered dupe content.

i am also confused about this topic.

Of course, I've heard both sides of it, many times.

I have been playing around with Article spinning recently.

I personally think google is smart enough to see articles @ 30% and disqualify them.... er -- maybe not disqualify, but maybe give them the same weight as dupe content.

Anyone have any feedback on this?

BTW - I dont think dupe content is penalized, I think it just has much less value than unique content.

Ya, so what % uniquness does an article have to be to "fool" google?

    I'm not an authority,

But if you'll open a webmaster account at google for adsense and analytics and the like...digg into all the resources that they provide, there's a FAQ in there somewhere that pretty much says duplicate content is only a penalty within a website.

In other words, the dupe content penalty is for sites that have tons of the same stuff again and again.

If duplicate content was truly a penalty then why does one guy in one of my niches continue to rank high for the same damn article at like a dozen different article sites?

    Duplicate Content is a myth!

    Respectfully,
    Steve

So I Just want to clarify then. I get a PLR article on dog training and someone else has it up on their website also. If I post exact article to my blog, can I still rank in google for it although there is the same copy out there in cyberspace somewhere?

      Thanks,
      Noah
