quick question...ebook then membership site...or just membership site front end?

hi,

i'm curious to learn...
what is a better strategy if you had an ebook and a membership site?

1) sell ebook first frontend...then upsell to membership site
- most people do this but i dont know why...why not just focus on membershipt site as front end which is more profitable and you can get more affiliates for a more profitable membership site (as opposed to an ebook)?

OR

2) sell membership site on frontend (more profitable) and focus on that.


would like to know your thoughts.

PS...i have niches where just focusing on membership site alone is more profitable than an ebook....some people use membership site as FRONT END...and they use that to sell EBOOKS to their users...what do you think?

    Hey BJ,

    It's important to always put yourself in the role of the customer before you decide on anyway to market yourself. First of all, how well known are you?

    If noones knows who you are, then you are wasting your time with upsells. You want to build a loyal group of customers before you start throwing in upsells. If anything sell your product with all the bells and whistles and make it as awesome as possible. That way your customers become your life customers and dont refund all the **** they just bought because you didnt give them what they consider their money's worth.

    Trust me, this is the way to go.

    Also, I'm on my way to releasing the first phase of a project I've been working on, if are willing to support the release, I would be happy to help you support yours.

    Experiment with both approaches. Why not? A/B test your approaches by segmenting your customers.

      I think it depends on your main objective. If you want to have a membership site, then I would make it part of that offer in one way or another.

      If you do membership site as an upsell, then you'll only get a percentage of your buyers to become members. If it were me I'd make it part of my membership site to add more value but that's just me.

        2nd membership, which you promote via your email series.

        if the ebook has hot content, then they should build trust with you, and could end up trying your membership (Subject to the way you launch it)

    I honestly thing that the membership site would be the best way to go first. Then after they join and have been with you for a while give them the option to buy the ebook. That way they know that you really helped them first rather than sell first then show them the potential you achieved

    I will not give you an example. I do this in real life and I earn 5 figures a month.

    freebie on teh front end. (high quality)

    then take them to membership site, then offer them lifetime membership, then offer VIP video coaching..... then offer them an OFFLINE Seminar.

    Been doing this for years and makes serious money.
