Naming a site....ugh :(

Have an idea lined up for a project that I want to start after I finish my current project but I can't for the life of me come up with a name.

Any thing you warriors do to help get your creativity on to help you name a site?

Mine will involve internet marketing outsourcing services. Sort of similar to warriors for hire. Any ideas are great, thanks!

Oh, should also add I'm going for a 'brand' type name not a keyword rich domain.

Just an idea. :-) (Available at the time of posting.)

There is actually a great many "good" domains still available. Put on your thinking cap and see if you can find a better one.

Humm.. I'm going to give a different approach. Why not give the site your long tail keyword ? if your site is about internet marketing outsourcing services, then you should search for a long tail keyword with little competition on adwords (or if you have a software like Market Samurai), and give the site name and your domain name the long tail keyword you discovered.

It's not that hard, of course finding a real good long tail keyword with traffic without competition isn't, but if it's for the only purpose to give a name to your website, you could do this and probably rank well for that particular keyword

It depends on your niche and what you're trying to do. I'd just keep it short and sweet. One or two words, max.

Here's one way to find domain names ... or at least get more ideas for names that work for you.

1.Stick you general term into the Google Keyword tool and let Google give you a list of related keywords.

      2. Download the list and copy/paste into GoDaddy or NameCheap Bulk Domain registration tool.

It's likely you'll get some combination that has an available domain. Otherwise rinse and repeat with different terms.

In the worst case you may walk away with some new domain ideas.

Well it's important to think about branding here.

You could go with a boring generic type domain including words such as hire, marketing, outsourcing, outsource, etc.. or you could go for a short memorable brand name (.com of course)

This way when someone "Googles" your website you'll always be the #1 search result.

This is kind of what I was thinking as well. I've been trying all kinds of 1 word domains and haven't come up with anything yet.

        Hi Spectrefax.

More than likely you won't find a single word .com. However, if you keep searching, you should be able to find a good double word .com

As for branding - "generic" domains can be branded too. For instance here in the UK one of the most popular and successful comparison websites is "Confused.com."

Here are a couple more suggestions (They're available.)

Yea really sucks because that whole 'webbies' thing would fit pretty well with what I want to do. But i'd hate to start branding that term and watch someone steal my spot in google and what not by deciding to develop webbies.com

        So...

What do you call an IM'er who is not a guru but not a newbie? Whats the slang term for it? I liked webbies

Well that's where “abundance thinking” comes in. Ultimately, no matter what happens, there's enough for everyone to succeed. That's why I don't mind sharing these domain names. :-)

I would suggest choosing something that is catchy and easy to spell. The name doesn't necessarily have to be relevant to the business. There are plenty of companies whose name has nothing to do with their business. What is a "Aweber" or a "Google"

      - OutsourcingXtreme.com

      - TheGuruOutsourcer.com

      - InstantOutsourcing.com

      Hi pmbrent.

Often there's a rhyme and reason to these seemingly "made up" names. For instance I'm guessing the "A" in AWeber stands for autoresponder. And "Google" reflects something of the volume of their SERPs. (Just guessing mind.)

Name it the same as your targeted keywords. You can add one letter at the end if that domain is already taken.

You can also download Market Samurai. Their keyword research and domain search tools are free. You just find all relevant keywords, then mark them all and click "Find domain". It will find available domains that contain those keywords. It will also check for alternatives with an extra letter at the end etc.
