Fake Sales Pitch from Newbie asking for help. :)

WARNING. You'll Never See A Newbie The Same Way Again.

Right, so those numbers on the thread title were the stats/day for 5 sites I've put up for Adsense. They've been put up for over 2 weeks, and the CTRs just aren't doing good.

Affiliate sales... Zero.

Adsense sales... $1 per day

CPA... $0

Just like many people out there, I am frustrated, overworked, baffled, bested, circumvented, conquered, cowed, crushed, disappointed, discomfited, disheartened, frustrated, humbled, licked, mastered, overcome, overpowered, overthrown, overwhelmed, routed, ruined, subjugated, surmounted, thwarted, trounced, undone, vanquished and worsted.

You see, I started out as a poor college boy, who got addicted to gambling. I lost all my money, drove everyone around me into debt, blew my nose. But all my troubles melted when a fellow guru squatted beside me and told me with a flashy smile,"Hey, Here's my phenomenal new system". I bought it, and it blew my mind away. That's right, it blew my mind away, as well as the money remaining in my pocket.

Testimonials:

"It's been like a hot poker to my face." - Newbie

"It's driving me crazy. All I took was 24 hours to make 1 dollar!" - Same Newbie

Disclaimer: Alright, that was just a fake sales pitch to get your attention and entertain you. Do I have it?

Sad to say... but I'm sick of gurus pushing low quality products, and who obviously will never leak out their true money secrets. I have absolutely no problem at getting my sites up to #1 in all the niches very quickly... but I really need advice on conversion, or even, how to find a good niche that actually converts well.

Here's a list of stuff I've bought (apparently my Market Research is so bad, even high quality products can't save my ass):
-Xfactor adsense
-100k adsense blueprint
-BTF (Yes, even this crazy good product cannot save my helpless self. But I swear by its power in SEO.)
-WSOssssss

Which is it? The red hot pain of having an extremely lousy head in conversion, or do I just do market research like blind mice?

Please donate some advice to this lost lamb here.

(I'll be very glad to have any form of information exchange via email with anyone who has earned great bucks online.)

Well, what is it that you do exactly? Do you just do adsense? Or do sell as an affiliate? Or do you do CPA?

If it is just adsense, then perhaps your niches may be a little off. I found that keywords with 'intent to buy' convert best.

What I used to do is write a couple reviews on a few products, lets say grills.
My keyphrase would be something like, 'what is the best grill for hamburgers?'. At least something with decent search volume and not unbeatable competition.
I would keyword optimize the articles and place adsense on there as well.
In the header I would have pictures and descriptions from say 3 different grills that the prospect can buy off of amazon.

If you get the traffic (with intent to buy, hence the keyphrase), the CTR should pick up as well.

Describe your process a little more.

    Regards,
    Mark

      Hi WebRank1,

Thanks for the kind reply right there. I actually do all of them. Currently I'm doing both affiliate and adsense on a few sites, then adsense for the rest. I've tried both Amazon and Clickbank, but neither seems to work for conversions for me, despite having over 800+ visitors and counting.

I have bounce rates of near 80% for every site, despite articles that I write myself/engage different article writers to write (both edited and non-edited).

Hmm, from your diagnosis, is it okay to say that I'm suffering badly from market research? I don't understand the "key-phrase" part. I normally try to rank for both keywords and some phrase matches, and they end up first page of google, but yet no CTR.

Could you share more about buying intent keywords? (Or PM?)

I don't know if I can keep up IM anymore, because I've been spending so much and a lottt of manual work, only to find that I receive close to $1 or $0 per day.

I think I speak for every single successful businessman when I say that we all have been where you are right now. Believe me. The one thing that makes the difference between winning and losing is persistence. Just keep at it.
The fact that you are here asking questions, tells me that you are not quite ready to throw in the towel yet.

First off, when you say 800 visitors, what is that? Daily or monthly? Is that from one single site or all your sites combined?

Don't worry about the term keyphrase I used, if you are getting on the first page you are doing it right. Just make sure that the keywords you are ranking for actually have search volume.

Now, the part where I think that you are lacking is this:
When you want a high CTR on ads you actually don't want prospects to stay on your site for very long. You actually want them to click your ad and leave your site.
So what you are after are keywords that prospects with 'buying intent' use.
        Let me explain:
Let's say that Joe is looking for a new grill to put in the backyard. What would he most likely type into Google?
He would either a: Type in a specific brand/model that he already knows he wants or b: a keyword or phrase that shows he has 'buying intent'. For example: 'What is the best grill for turkey meat?' something like that.
Now when someone types that phrase into Google, you can almost be sure that he is looking to buy a grill, he just want to find out which one is the best. And that is where you come in.

You will provide Joe with around 3 review articles on 3 different sets of grills. He can read them and decide whether or not he is ready to buy. If he is, he will almost certainly either click on your Adsense ad or click on your Amazon affiliate link.

So a keyword with 'buying intent' is simply a keyword/phrase that tells you that whomever typed that into Google, is most likely looking to buy the product they are searching for. And you will build your site around that by offering the prospect your 'opinion'.

A tip to write a great persuasive review is to go to Amazon, look at related products and their reviews. Take the reviews and see what people are talking about, what their feelings towards that product are, how the product changed their lives.
Now take all that information and write a review in which you show those emotions.

As a final note: Make the reviews all about your 'experience' not about how the features would be beneficial to the prospect but rather how they have been beneficial to you.
As opposed to a sales letter, make a review article all about what you have 'experienced'.

I hope all this made sense!

        Regards,
        Mark

          Hi Mark,

Huge thanks for breaking down "buying intent keywords" for me. Really glad I met you, because I've been so confused right now, trying to find good mentors, or trying to get advice that will help me make money online. Thanks to your post, I'll definitely not let go of this opportunity yet, and will try the methods as you've implemented.

It made good sense! Though I'm a bit lost at the last part. I actually have a site that ranks for a specific product phrase. So is it good if I try to place alternatives on the site and give reviews too?

          David.
