Conversion Experts - I Need Your Help... Please

The warrior forum has been a godsend for my progress in making money online. It seems like the obvious formula for making money is traffic + conversion.

I made A LOT of mistakes with my first site, but it now it gets a fair amount of traffic. About 500 unique visitors per day.

I am happy with the amount of traffic, but the money generated per month is about 30-50 bucks. Around 30 bucks from adsense, and a little from amazon. I am building a list, but I'm mainly concerned with how I can increase my amazon sales.

I was really hoping that sidebar on the right would convert, but it really doesn't that much. Does anyone have some sidebar tricks that can increase conversions?

  • People "Hope" they will win the lottery.

Marketing isn't about hope it's about figuring things out. Finding out what people want. Giving it to them. And creating value.

So you have to ask yourself what VALUE are you providing your visitors? Why would they come to your site and what do you have to offer them?

Seriously, why are they there, how did they find you, what keywords did they use, where do they go once they hit your site, where do they exit, why do they exit.

    Analytics are your friend.

And if you want to sell something you put it front and center, it becomes the focus of their attention.

Why in the world would you expect to throw something in a side bar and have it pour in cash?

People who are successful with Amazon PRESELL the offer and make several calls to action. And you had better not HOPE they buy, you need to create the URGE to buy. You need to tell them why they need to buy, and why they need to buy RIGHT NOW. Amazon has a 24 hour cookie, if you don't do that you fail.

I like to target a combination of High Priced Items and very low priced items that are easy to buy and somehow not available locally or at a good price locally. People don't think much about spending $20 or less on something they WANT and you can convince them to ORDER NOW.

Big ticket items are different, you had better figure out the buy phrases and that involves a lot of keyword traffic.

The reason I focus some attention on low cost easy to buy items is so I can get the VOLUME up so that my % payout climbs fast.

No point in making 4% on 4 big ticket items, when you can make 7-8% just by adding in a few low cost things.

    Good luck

      thanks for responding man.

Yeah, I know what you mean. It should be a heck of a lot more targeted. This was the first site I ever created, and I really didn't know what I was doing. As a result, I have this site that I've basically just left for the last 6 months. Since then, I've moved on to other sites that target amazon products. I actually get to the 7% commission mark on amazon. So selling a paintball gun would be a decent commission.

Basically, this site was constructed terribly, but it gets a decent amount of traffic. I don't want to spend a bunch of time on this site, as I've got other sites that are converting much better.

I was kinda hoping that someone knew how to increase sidebar conversions. As that would be fairly easy to incorporate. It feels like such a waste to have over 500 daily visitors, and barely ever any conversions.

I don't need this site to convert like crazy, but it would be nice to pull in maybe 100-200 bucks a month. Right now, most visitors are entering the site for paintball related information. So it would be an uphill battle to get someone to buy something.

Anyways, I'm ranting a little bit... thanks for your input.

I would probably customize the sidebar with a hand made banner. That would be more appealing to the people who stop by your page.
