Really good developer / pretty lousy marketer

Hello all,

I have spent the last 6 months developing a powerful, easy to use SMS engine. I currently have apps for mobile coupons, real estate, auto dealers and SMS business cards. Rather than just create apps, I have created an engine that allows me to quickly build apps, so if you can think it up, I can build it.

I recently ran some email campaigns and got a decent click through rate, but a very low conversion rate. I realize that there is some education involved in this process (definitely not an impulse buy for the average small business) but I am thinking that the marketing text/info on the site could be stronger. (I am a very good developer, but make no claims of being a copy writer)

If anyone would like to take a look at the site an offer an opinion, I am all ears. If anyone would like to talk joint ventures, I have a very competitive commission plan with great residuals. You can check it out at the link in my signature. jtxt dot me

Thanks!

Send me a PM of the site ill give it a look through. Nvm its in your sig.
    First off your missing testimonials.

Ill keep looking, if you want you can hit me up on skype and I can give you my thoughts with voice chat.

Also another thing I noticed, which you mentioned yourself. The site isn't for the everyday internet user, you have to cater to a specific audience and market specifically to them.

I had a quick look at your site, and it looks like you're targetting corporate sales.

Call me old fashioned, but the best way to market something like this is get a bunch of 1 page brochures printed up and start knocking on doors in your local area.

Offer the service for free for maybe one company in each of those areas for a period of three months or so. Be up front and tell them it's a new product and you're looking to break into the marketplace with it.

Leave them with a brochure and drop back in once they have a chance to think about it.

Once you get a few paying customers, word of mouth will help, and also hit some trade shows.

Often stuff like this is sold a lot better the old fashioned way - knocking on doors and talking to people.

    cheers
    Sam

True, not to mention the website presentation is cluttered up in the first page, bigger font, more pictures detailing what your selling, how are you better then the competition, and finally give them a reason to buy your product right now
