godaddy become expansive for .COM domain !

what happened to godaddy
they want 12$ a year for .com
there are many reliable registrars that ask only for 8$-10$
i already purchased several domains from godaddy and my dilema is whether to move to another registrar and save money? or simply to pay 25% more just because its more convenient to manage all the domains I won under one roof?
What do you guys think?

  • I've noticed from week to week that prices for .com, .net and .org fluctuate considerably. I'm not sure if that's only with Godaddy, or if that's a common practice with other registrars, as well.

You only pay $12 if you don't know where to get coupons - that's how they make extra money off chumps.

If you look in the right places, you never have to pay more then $8 for any TLD with Godaddy.

So your not going to be helpful and show the poor chump (no offense) how to get the coupons so he can get them for $8 if you know how, why would you not share it with him ?

GoDaddy has always been expensive. Register from NameCheap, they'll even throw in free domain privacy.

For those looking for coupons -

This site has most of them:

    livecodes dot blogspot dot com

But I can't stress that you have to look in more then one place. I spent 30 seconds searching three days ago and found a .ORG buy one get one free, and got 3 free .org domains with my order.

Every time you want to register domain names on Godaddy, you can easily find lots of coupon codes. For .com, I always pay $7.49 + $0.18 ICANN fee, that's it

That's why they can do $1 domain promotion.
They have to cover the loss for the promo and transfer the cost to the renewals..

If the domain owner build a reputation and tons of backlinks over the year, godaddy know that the owner will most probably renew.. that's where the 'Payback Time' starts..

Godaddy is 4x bigger than it's nearest competitor, so I highly doubt that it needs to 'cover its losses'. Parsons was offered $1.5 billion not long ago for Godaddy, but he didn't sell. Why? Because they will make a lot more than that from the sheer number of its customers.

I don't want to type in my other lengthy post again, so you can read the rest of my response to that here:

Just remember that price shouldn't be the sole factor when considering a service.

Godaddy can be cheap at times, but it does come at a cost with usability (navigation of Godaddy is an absolute minefield)

You're right that 'cheap' should certainly not be the sole factor.

I've used their interface for so long it's second nature to me, but once it's set up how many times do you have to change anything, anyway?
