My first amazon kindle ebook sales :D....

31 replies
Hi;
Wow.....a hooray to myself.
I checked kdp.amazon.com and find out that I got FIVE unit sold.
Haha...never thought it is as simple as that.

Well......about last 2 months ago, I bought a unique PLR report and upload it to kindle.

Never thought I'll make any sales because I'm doing it for the sake of trying what kindles publishing is.

Cool.....

Hope this news will enlighten more kindle publisher here on WF

Regards;
Raja Kamil

UPDATE :
I created a video tutorial on how to create Kindle Ecover with MS. Office.

    Did you mail to your list announcing your kindle book? If no, you should, and make sure that you tell them to leave a review if they think it's warranted. Having a lot of positive reviews and an in demand subject are two of the main keys to Kindle success. Take a look at kindleboards forums for more info and feedback from other Kindle authors.

      Congrats...

      When I first started making sales on Kindle, it was exciting. Really made me want to dive right in and publish more....and I did.

      Just curious, did you upload the report "as-is" to Kindle?

      Are you the only one selling it on Kindle?

        I uploaded the .doc file as it will automatically converted to kindle format.
        Thanks by the way.

    That's awesome. You gotta love selling other people's stuff!

    What are the earning like? Is it only the 99 cent stuff that sells?

    I think I will check into it myself now.

    Great job! I'm currently trying to publish my eBook about IM on Amazon via CreateSpace but it hasn't worked out yet too well because of my cover size, my pdf document size, etc :/. I may just sell it as an eBook if it doesn't work out but I'm hoping it will; it will really impress my friends and family and more people will buy it IMO.

      Awesome, you give me hope. I literally JUST (3 minutes ago) finished uploading my first Kindle eBook to Amazon. It's in review, they say that should last less than 24 hours.. hopefully something good happens with this.

      The problem is you are trying to upload it as a PDF...that's just asking for problems.

      Uploading to Kindle can be complicated or easy...it depends on whether or not you have the right information.

      I use a Word template and upload as a .doc file.

      Zero problems...and I can take that same file and upload it to Barnes & Noble as well.

      Other authors use HTML or software like MobiPocket...

      PDF is probably the worst way to go. Sometimes it will work...but with some formatting errors. Those formatting errors will get you bad reviews and refunds.

        Is the template that you used just a standard Word template, a paid template or something that you had to tweak to get it to the right size?

        Thanks, Joe

          In my opinion, using a plain nothing fancy word template is better. Perhaps edlewis had definite answer on this.

          It's a template I had created for me...

          Works nicely with Kindle and Pubit...and links my TOC, so no angry customers.

    I just published two (my first two) yesterday...

    Took a little work in gimp to get the size to the appropriate dimensions and also the correct format (they don't accept .png)...

    Congrats on the success!

      I don't pull traffic at all. It's organic I guess. (I can't trace where the sales coming from, but because I never tell about the publishing to anyone, I totally believe it is 100% organic, either from google or from amazon itself)

      Hi Ben;
      Here a few tips for uploading the ecover.
      1. Print Screen your current ecover
      2. Paste into Paint (or similar program if you are using Mac)
      3. Make sure the width or height meet their requirement
      4. Done !

      Another way to create an ecover is through Microsoft Office it self.

      Regarding uploading the file, upload it in .doc format as edlewis told us

      He got a good point there

      I myself prefer to upload as .doc

          Thanks.

          Owh, regarding the niche I'm publishing, it has nothing to do with money.
          I've 3 book so far,
          but the most perform book is related to craft, women and kid.

          I guess, the buyers must be a women or a teacher or a parent.

          Perhaps, this can give the idea what to publish on kindle.
