      thanks for your fast answer
so what would you write in those 2 mailings? (Only pitch or send usefull information and pitch at the end?)
And how do you know that 2 mailings will outperform direct sale, because the downsides of list marketing is the optin-rate (only 20% or so will subscribe) and your open rate + your click through rate to the sales latter

20% optin rate is a normal good optin rate. A normal good salesletter conversion is around 1%.

who is not willing to optin won't buy your product either of a result of reading your salesletter.

At the end of your content you just throw in a very soft pitch
"And If you like my stuff I've got alot more. To learn more about xyz click here"

You can send also regularly E-Mails just pitching them stuff. But keep in mind not to pitch to much.

      hi esk,

thx again! How long should the emails be? i mean if its to long, maybe they don't get the pitch at the end?!

When they say the money is in the list they don't just mean YOUR list. Pick up the phone with everyone, and I mean everyone in your market who you consider to be a competitor and ask for the JV. Even the ones you consider too small to care about, call them too and start hooking up deals.

When I launch a product I set a goal, something like "I want to send my message to 1,000,000 people. How many list owners do I need to contact?" Then I start calling until I have a commitment and a combined total of 1,000,000 messages sent.

Of course they all won't open the message and a few will be undeliverable but it should most definitely bring in sales.

    NOTE:

List mailing is just a step in the direct marketing process. You don't necessarily sell from the email, rather get them to your site to see your sales message or video or both.

List mailing can also be done offline via snail mail with a list broker and mailing your sales pieces. You still employ a list.

You have to be able to see the connection between building a list and direct marketing. They are steps in the process and are one in the same.

I do not agree with your headline. List building makes huge amount of money to dedicated marketers.

It is highly dependent on Ad Copy, so I voted Other.

List building is just a tool to gaining more traction in a market. I'm the first to point out that the mechanics are far from fun--but seeing the results sure is.

You're going to fail. If you're afraid of failure then you do not belong in the Internet Marketing Business. Period.
