For outsourcing... are developing countries now richer than north america?

Really quite interesting...

I posted an outsourcing project for a graphics design project to 'essentially' draw a circle. (Actually 3 of 'em). I could do it in 5 minutes, but didn't feel like it. Plus, felt maybe I would find a really good designer in the process.

Anyways, I make the post.

Bids from North America & the UK were mostly around $20.

Bids from India/UAE/etc -were mostly $50-$150. WHAT?

Samples from everyone though were very poor. (Not even any kind of fancy 3d stuff. Just barebones, open your paint tool, click circle, and draw 3 of 'em. I admit, I didn't ask for anything super fancy -- but someone actually bidding $150 for that??).

What the heck is going on?

That's pretty interesting to know. I guess they figured if you couldn't draw a simple circle, you probably have the money to throw around, so they might as well get as much of it as possible while they can.

I've actually been wondering about this. Heck, I live in the south and know people work cheaper than some of the offshore prices I've seen on WF. Not saying that's a great thing. Just an observation.

I know when I looked to outsource some work they were expecting to only get paid $200 per month full-time. I contacted them directly through local job sites in their Country.

It is possible they thought you were so clueless, due to the
simplicity of the task, that you would not know the difference.

So, essentially they were trying to get over on you bigtime.

  • Well -- funny thing is (and my point is) -- this 3rd world countries (which aren't so much anymore) are WAAAAAAAAAAY out in left field. This isn't the first project I've gotten stupid bids from them.

It seems more and more like north america is now starting to have the reasonable bids.

Its the current economy US people are cutting prices to get work, this also reminds me of a show i was watching where a lot of IT people from Silicon Valley are going back to India because they are offered better pay than the US
