Which types of Rights (PLR, MRR, RR etc) give the Least chance of abuse + saturation of the product?

You get many types of rights you can give away for your products,

Resell rights
Master resell rights
Reprint rights

etc

people abuse rights, and the more people pass your ebook on with the rights given to them, the more it can spread, but it can make your ebook get saturated and worthless {as more and more people sell it for a lower price etc}

Which ones of the rights above would offer the least chance of this abuse happening? and which type of rights would offer the most chance?

  • First of all, just because an ebook becomes saturated does not necessarily make it worthless. If I have my affiliate links strewn throughout the product, I would be very happy to see it become 'over-saturated'.

To get back to your question, though, I would think reprint rights would have the least saturation, because reprint rights still require the author's name to be included. Since most people want to appear as an 'authority' on the subject, they would much rather have the ability to claim authorship as their own.

Which leads me to think that master resell rights probably get the most saturation, because these can be completely re-worked in so many different ways, as completely different products each time.

My thoughts exactly... When I release a book with these rights I WANT it to get passed around

As for the best choice for your situation. I would go with basic Resell Rights.

PLR could be changed so much that it turns into a completely different product, at the very least you will probably lose your links...

I prefer to sell with RR and MRR and rarely offer PLR to my products...

I usually offer MRR, but sometimes just RR and sell the MRR from links within the book...

      Hope this helps

This may sound crazy, but my personal opinion about what would cause the least amount of abuse is:

        1. Charge a reasonable but higher amount for the product; and
        2. Limit the number of copies sold.

I think this would work with any kind of rights if you have a good enough product. Get a bunch of great testimonials before releasing about how wonderful the product is, limit the distribution, and I don't think you would have to worry so much about saturation.

        Just my opinion.

Actually, I have to agree with that. Yanik Silver was a master at this for 3 reasons:

          1) If you pay $1,500-$2,500 for a product of his, you definitely don't want to share that with others for free.

          2) The limited amount of copies made it seem very exclusive to the buyer which made the product seem even more valuable, and (although this doesn't apply to most of us)

          3) He always sold his products in physical form, as disassembling, scanning and uploading 1,000 pages is usually very impractical for most people.

          Excellent point, SteveB.

So with rights we are looking at

-what types of rights to offer?
            -price of them ?
-How many limit them too? - or infinitely?
-Saturation of the product, being out there.

Does offering rights, infinity times offer any disadvantages?
