What's wrong with Squidoo - is it me ?!

Hey guys !

I'm asking advice from you Squidoo marketing experts

So, I decided to build a Squidoo lens promoting a russian bride dating service (CPA offer).

Well, I built it yesterday, and I got "91% complete" score. I only have to get 20 squid likes, and a squid like from a squid giant.

It seems a bit hard for me to hit the 100%.

My point is : the lens is still not featured and showed up as "under construction" even though I published it ?

Any suggestion about that ?

Hey Sean - I'm not sure what the problem is? Your lens comes up when I click on the link....

Perhaps it's something to do with you being signed in to your Squidoo account.

You don't need 100% completion. I don't have it and I am making money off my lens. Just ignore it.

Like someone mentioned above it could e their terms of service - hire doing something against them. Or you may just have to wait a few days. Or you ran into a but and may want to try republishing the lens under a different squidoo URL.

Hi,

I think these days that you need to promote YOUR site from the lens. YOUR site then promotes aff target (and gets a sign up etc.). Google Panda loves and gobbled up 'advertorials'. Regards Allen

  Those days Squidoo doesn`t work like they worked a few months ago. When I open your lens everything seems ok. Perhaps you should give it a little more time. My advice is not to reply on Squidoo or any Web 2.0 site. They could take down your lens overnight for no apparently reason.
  
  To give you an example I had a lens promoting a popular CB product in the weight loss niche. My lens was featured and ranks pretty good in the SERPS but suddently when i want to update it ...bum "This lens has been taked down"
  
  On thing to mention is that ALL the lenses related to that product have been taked down so I think probably Squidoo doesn`t like that product even if the category wasn`t a "Squidoo Don`t"

  Everything is okay. There is nothing wrong with Squidoo or his lens. The 91 percent completion means nothing - if you complete it to 100 percent you get a "trophy" on your edit page, which is totally useless.
  
  Squidoo has recently done a makeover of the site with some elements having a "game" aspect. If you log in and look at your account, or example, you get 10 points. If someone likes your lens or comments on it you get points.
  
  All of the points and trophies are not useful in terms of SEO or anything real, they are just for the people in the Squidoo community to enjoy and have fun with. They mark special milestones as a Squidoo user, that's all.

Hey buddy.. i dont want to shove it in your face, but here's one personal advice.

DO NOT USE SQUIDOO.

More specifically, if you're promoting Clickbank, Paydotcom, or any other CPA offers, DO NOT USE SQUIDOO.

You are risking many hours of your time as it will be deleted in a *SNAP*. Just like that.

Just 1 and a half year ago, I had 2 accounts that are responsible for making me around USD3000 per month. At first Squidoo just deleted a couple of the lenses in the accounts, then after a few weeks 2 accounts got banned.

Although I still have some 'surviving accounts' that's still making me SOME money but i would say 80% of my income from Squidoo is gone, over the course of 2 months.

Normally, Squidoo wouldn't do the check manually, what I have seen is Squidoo will and definitely will ban/delete your stuff when someone reported it (your competitors.. Duh~). I KNOW because i tried that, once, i sent in an email reporting one of my competitor and a couple days later it's gone. Cool?

If you really want to use FREE stuff, go for Hubpage, at least it's not as strict for now. I have never used Squidoo for selling since then, I still use it though purely for Link Juice purposes to work on SEOs on my websites.

Squidoo sucks! I also heard that with Google Panda update they are going to loose up to 80 per cent of their traffic!

  The same thing happened to me: my lens is 91% done.
  
  So I gave up Squiddo.
  
  Then I got to Hub Pages, which is MUCH better! If you want to see my hubs go to neojr on HubPages
  
  So I suggest you try Hub Pages.

Hubpages was hit much worse by, and has reacted much more strongly to, the Panda update. They are taking down hubs in all directions.

Squidoo was hardly hit by Panda at all. The % completion thing you can ignore - it makes no difference to your lens appearing in searches in Google or Squidoo or anywhere else. Your lens should get the green checkmark and no longer be under construction once the next lensrank update happens after you publish it.

However, using Squidoo lenses for CPA offers seems like asking for them to be taken down, given the emphasis on higher-quality and less spammy pages. The low writing quality on your lens won't help either.

  --Promotion of and reference to illegal activities, such as drug use, hacking, etc., or promotion of ways to get around illegal activities, such as "legal drugs," black hat systems
  --Promotion of activities that could be harmful to health, such as encouraging readers to become anorexic or induce a miscarriage.
  
  Squidoo is designed to make money by ads revenue (adsense, chikita, etc) and Amazon (share comissions from the associates program). Those are the MAIN SOURCES OF INCOME for squidoo lenmansters.

I don't even think you are allowed to do CPA with squidoo. Just do it to get backlinks for legit sites.
I used to offer a squidoo service on fiverr back in the day.

Squidoo is continuing on a relentless path to remove more and more affiliate type offers in all categories from their site.

IM'ers should recognize Squidoo's broad intentions against IM, and act accordingly by exercising caution in creating your lenses.

If you choose to continue using Squidoo for affiliate offers, at least back up your work, so that it can be replicated elsewhere if and when Squidoo suddenly starts taking down your lenses for being too "spammy".

You may have escaped Squidoo's heavy handed ban so far, but don't let that lull you into a sense of false security.
