A new warrior arrives

Hey everyone I just started an account a couple days ago. At first I was skeptical about this site, until I've seen so many positive people on this site. Therefore, I've decided to drop by and say hello. At the same time, it's come to my attention that I'm in desperate need of help. I had recently quit my job, and I am now left with $33 in my bank account. I started blogging around December, 2010. I have adsense up for 3 of my blogs, but it seems like the income that I'm generating is very slow. It's the end of April, and I came up with a total of $40. Sure enough, it's growing, but need some help with a couple of things

1) I was wondering if you guys can provide some links, ideas, and what not for me to help boost my blog up. That would be great. I would like to finally get my first pay check, as it will only boost my confidence up.

2) Is it even possible for me to make a decent amount of money by just having a "personal" blog? The problem with this is that there's no specific niche, since I just have random rants. However, I just want to know if it's possible?

3) I'm a complete newbie when it comes to SEO, and how to gain traffic. Can anyone provide a link that I can read upon it?

Thanks again everyone!

I see. So in essence, a site where I have some type of product, or information in terms of making "money", "finances", and so forth would be the best bet?

Is there anyone else that has a site about a completely different topic where they make money?

It seems like finances, and health are the main ones.

Personal blogs wouldn't work at all?

    Welcome aboard GGPaul,

It sounds like you're in a dire situation and the IM world can be some sort of trap if you're not very careful at this stage.

My first advice to you will be to "buy nothing" at this stage. No money making courses, nothing! You will see a lot of promises, instant riches, 100k in 5 weeks, the earth, the moon, and on and on.

Just read the forums, try to learn as much as you can and most importantly act on what you learn. There are lots of free ways to build sites, promote them, and to start making sales/money.

Regarding your niche question, yes, making money with a personal blog is much harder unless you are somehow known/popular in a specific market/niche. You can start by creating niche/product based websites for adsense/amazon.

    Try to read and learn:

    - Keyword/niche research and selection
    - Free promotion (article marketing, Web 2.0 sites, social bookmarking, videos)
    - Ad placement/conversion to make more money from your visitors

If you need money fast and can provide any kind of service (like writing, design, etc.), you can offer your services in many places including this forum. It won't be a five figure income but it can get you through the hard times.

Definitely what I was looking for. I'm afraid that there might be people wanting to help me, but at the same time I know that I'll have to invest some money in, which I can't do at the very moment. My main goal is to get this pay check delivered to me as soon as possible. Thanks a lot.

Welcome to the forum. If you are just starting making money online and hard on budget, then I will advice you to surely check fiverr.com and related sites. You can make money by doing simple task. You can also check Odesk.com and other freelance sites. Don't buy any product at this stage that seems to good to be true.

First of all welcome to the forum. Secondly I recommend you to have niche blog for your purpose. A personal blog is good for branding but i`m not sure if it could make you a decent amount of money.

My advice is to build a niche site and learn SEO. There are plenty of free quality information here on the WF.

      Happy learning !

Is blogging the only option you see or are you open to other ways?

If you can write, you can instantly generate content and sell it only. That way you don't have to wait for the money. There are many other ways.

I have a blog where I talk about "losing weight." I figured it's a trend that's going to pick up since summer is along the way. At the same time, I can add a link to that blog where it directs people to a site that sells "health products." I'm not sure if anyone is familiar with network marketing, but to give everyone an idea; I feel as if I can kill so many birds with one stone...

Ex: In that blog, there are ads. The blog consist of me going with my daily routine and to share what I'm doing to lose weight/stay healthy. At the same time there's a direct link to another site (my product site/network marketing) where people can order products. Therefore, when people order the products, it benefits me, as well with clicking on the ads (adsense)

The thing is, I'm hesitant and I'm not sure if that will work. Maybe I should just go with my gut and give it a shot.

Welcome. This is like a massive university campus. 'Walk' around, visit the various faculties (War Room when you can afford it) and you will pick up a real education
