Four Barriers to Money Making

Warrior Forum is a wonderful source of information for all us IM'ers, new and experienced alike. Even if you are a vet, the dynamic nature of what we are doing makes it possible to learn something new every day.

However, as in every forum/property on the web (and anywhere offline for that matter), there are some facts that every one of us (and especially the beginners) must be aware of.

1- There are 1000 ideas and comments in the world for 1 piece of real information.

Meaning, we see people talking/commenting on every subject under the sun. The sad fact is only a small percentage of these people actually know what they are talking about. This is especially true on the web where the majority is just "anonymous" and most of the time nobody has to -actually- prove what they say.

We see a lot of examples every day. For instance, someone says that article marketing is dead. And most of the time that someone hasn't actually done any article marketing at all. But it doesn't matter. 10 more someones agree, then a 100 more read about it and tend to believe, and all of a sudden it becomes "the truth".

Then someone else says "Google punishes you if you get too many links", "You can't make money from Amazon/Clickbank/Adsense etc.", "There are no good keywords left", etc.

When enough people say it, even the most ridiculous idea becomes a "fact"!

And unfortunately, this is lethal for beginners.

When combined with the analysis paralysis and the -somehow- inevitable frustration of the first few tries, these "facts/truths" end the IM career of many people who could actually be very successful had they not listened to such negativity.

2- What matters is not how much other people make, it's how much YOU are making.

Almost in every WSO (or in any other thread that mentions a specific technique), I see lots of people asking "yeah, OK but how much are you making with it?" I mean I even saw this question asked on a guaranteed search engine placement WSO!

OK, it's perfectly reasonable (more than that, it's common sense) to question the actual efficiency of a WSO, but it is also a very dangerous thing if this tends to become a habit.

We all must understand that a method/technique/strategy can work wonders for a person or in a specific niche, and be completely useless for someone else or another niche due to different skill sets, amount of work required or the very nature of the niche.

We all have different personalities, skills, determination levels, strengths and weaknesses and every market/niche is different. So we all must find OUR OWN way to success.

3- Why struggle alone and not succeed together?

I've been in the forum for more than 2 years, reading hundreds, if not thousands of threads and posts. The one thing that amazes me the most is the lack of partnership requests/topics. I'm not talking about your standard JV here.

What I mean is, if a warrior is good at writing/conversion for instance, and another at SEO and they both struggle on their own, why don't they (we) join forces to succeed together?

Of course there will be some logistics and trust issues at first, but even so, isn't it better to start making serious money and then sorting out these problems than struggling on your own and eventually giving up?

4- My last rant is about the actual idea of "business".

I see people going crazy about SEO, and mostly (if not totally) ignoring their website content.

Of course SEO and SEM are very important for our businesses, but they are the means, not the ends. When you're running a business, you must have some sort of assets.

And our assets are our websites and visitors. Not the links we create, not our SERPs as these can be taken away from us at any moment. You can't run a business by ignoring your own assets.

This may seem strange to most, but I believe you must spend 80% of your time/money on your own properties and only 20% on outside stuff that are almost completely out of your control.

Even if everything else goes smoothly and you get to page 1 on Google for a very competitive keyword and get thousands of visitors every day, what good does it make if your site offers nothing to those visitors?

This was a long rant, but I had some free time today
