I remember my first domain! Exciting times indeed.
Just remember to stay positive if things don't move quickly or the traffic doesnt flood in.

    Good luck.

      Well done!

This is the beginning of a great journey for you. Just take it a step at a time and refuse to give in to overwhelm.

You really can succeed at Internet marketing as long as you refuse to give up.

The Nike slogan really just does about sum it up - Just Do It!

I'll second the advice about HostGator for hosting. I've used them for several years now and have always found them to be good value.

      Best Wishes

      Alan

I'm going with a Hosting service that is ran by a Member of this Forum. He gave me a good discount so , I'm taking it. Looks Good and supports Wordpress ; so that's really all I need. Also he has unlimted Bandwith & Data storage , so I can't argue I'm going to take it. As soon as I have $5 in my PayPal from Fiverr , I'll get it.

P.S I've all ready got $1.30 in my account.

Congrats! I'm glad to hear you finally made up your mind to take that leap of faith.

It's amazing how that initial fear quickly turns into down-right excitement, isn't it?

If funding is a problem at the moment, Awardspace offers excellent free hosting with no ads. You can always transfer everything to your new host when things start paying off.

Best of luck to you. Definitely keep us posted on how things are going for you, and don't be afraid to ask questions along the way. That's the whole point of being part of a forum such as this. There are so many years of collective knowledge here that I am constantly amazed and continually learning.

Never host with the same company you registered your domain with. Never.

I don't feel like typing it all out again, so let me just quote my other post, instead:

Let's say you were to get accused of spamming, or have hackers install a malicious script on your site, or otherwise due to the incompetence of the hosting company have your account suspended. If the relationship with your Web hosting company goes sour and your domain name is registered somewhere else, to re-establish your site all you need to do is get hosting set up with a new company, copy your site over, and point your domain name registration to your site’s new location. But if your Web host is also your domain name registrar, you also need to transfer the registration, as well, probably for an additional fee. And worse yet, if the hosting company decides it really doesn’t like you and it controls your domain name registration, it may decide to cancel the registration altogether.

Also, if the company went out business, you have no way of changing your nameservers, so you lose your domain, and you also lose the files on your server.

Do not touch godaddy...omg I hate them. I have 8 domains locked down at them and i grind my teeth everytime i have to login to their site.

For domains and hosting, the best are Namecheap and Hostgator. Don't forget your coupon codes, they add up to alot if you purchase alot of domains.

If you haven't already picked a host, I'd highly recommend Bluehost. They are very reliable and quickly expanding into a dominant hosting company.

Hey congratulations! What are you going to do next blog or HTML site? Hey if you really need great hosting and don't mind paying a few extra dollars for training, blogger builder and a host of other useful IM toys I would go with GVO. They are the most IM friendly hosting on the planet. Hands down. Great customer service too.

Gotta agree that Hostgator is solid.

If you are only wanting to host 1 domain, then $5 a month is pretty small change... I hope you got a better deal from your contact!

Congratulations. I love Hostmonster for their AMAZING customer service. Call any time. Get someone who speaks English who knows how to fix your problem. Never hang on hold. Never have to use one of those stupid problem tracking systems. I haven't used Hostgator, so I can't contrast, but there are two other services I've used which aren't even close to offering the service that Hostmonster does.

Don't waste your time adding your site to the search engines. Trust me, they will find a new site fairly quickly, and submitting it isn't going to speed up the process much, if at all.

That does make me think of something else, though: If you are depending on search engines to drive your traffic, how do you optimize a site such as this? I mean, technically the cam is your content, but that wouldn't bode well with a search engine spider.

There are a lot of excellent suggestions being given here.

Congratulations! And I agree with the advice to have a separate registrar and host for all the reasons mentioned. Don't spend too much time in the Warrior Forum, though. Spend your time getting links for free organic traffic instead. Only come here when you need to research something - the advanced search function is a good resource - or to take a break from linkbuilding.

You may want to try 1and1 as well to be your web hosting. It works very good for me.

Of course, the cpanel interface of hostgator is also awesome and very user friendly.

  • Holy crap, people! Not one time has simplybeastz asked for advice for a host. In fact, he has already stated he knows who he will be using.

4 of these posts are mine, and 3 of the posts are from simplybeastz (the OP). 1 of these posts gives downright incorrect advice. 9 of these are simply "Cool" or "Congrats" (short responses, yes, but they were responding based on what was actually said in the title and OP, so these are absolutely forgivable in this instance), and only 1 other person other than myself offered any real advice.

Out of 34 posts, 16 are only 1 line of text about a host. Have any of you even bothered to read past the title or the first post? I didn't think so. And why is that? Can you say, 'Post count inflation'? I would be willing to bet a dollar to a dime that at least half of you don't even have a website, much less have ever used Hostgator or any other host, for that matter.

If you don't have something productive or encouraging to say, please stay out of the conversation altogether.

Please forgive my rant and sorry to hijack your post, simplybeastz, but this has been getting really common lately on the forum, it seems.

I must leave on a positive note, though, so if you ever need any help or a favor, feel free to ask, buddy. I'm just a PM, email or chat client away. Best of luck on your virgin mission.

And now back to our regularly scheduled programming...

[EDIT] What do you want to bet there will be 10 more Hostgator posts under here by tomorrow, proving that not one of them has read through the posts.

I've been noticing this allot as well. I don't know why they would want to boost their Post's-All you get is a number next to your Post's? I'm not going to go with HostGator , as I got a better deal from someone in the Forum (WSO Discount.)

Their seems to be allot of New Guys , Telling how to Make Money online and how to do it. But if they're did so well , why haven't they discovered this Forum yet?

As soon as my Ebay auction end on Sunday , I'll get Hosting-All ready Pointed my DNS at the hosting company.

Right. I saw you posted that a while ago, but evidently most of the posters didn't bother to read that. I'm glad you found yourself a good deal that you felt comfortable with. Best of luck with that.

I'm really excited , I can't wait intill my Website will be up on Sunday. I've picked a good Niche with High searches and little competion , only 7 Million other pages with low Backlinks. Their isn't a website aimed at my niche ; just pages from other Gaming news websites.

I'm signing up to a new clickbank account and another CPA account today. Thing are looking Good.If all else fails' I still have a domain that's worth at least $50 if I sell it.

I'll keep the Forum updated , on how things turn out.

The funny thing is that I see people with more than 50 posts doing this, which is the threshold for unlocking PMing.

I even see established members doing this sometimes, but most of the time it's newbies that are trying to inflate their post count.

I think we should be able to report people who are obviously just trying to inflate their post count.

If you're looking for cheap .com's, 1and1 seems to be the place to go, although you hear a lot of horror stories about them on the forum.

If you don't necessarily care about it being a .com, Godaddy has .info's for $1.99 at the moment. If you wait a couple of weeks for a sale, you can get them for $.89
