Affiliate Marketing - Is it Legal?

Hello.
One man told me that affiliate marketing is selling someones products with your website, right? without telling? Is it legal to resell without getting any certificate on it?
#affiliate #legal #marketing
  • You sell with the permission of the owner of the product. The owner also gets a percentage of the money you helped make. this is perfectly legal. i dont know what you mean by certificates my friend. you seem confused

As far as I know, there is no way to be an affiliate without permission from the owner of the product. Product owners set up affiliate programs on purpose so they can get more people to sell their stuff and then they pay the affiliate a commission for doing the selling.

It's possible that affiliate marketing my be illegal somewhere, but not for the scenario you have laid out the OP.

You get only a percentage of the price, the biggest part still goes to the owner of the product.

You just get paid that you have led the buyer to the product.

Actually, many product owners give above 50% commission to their affiliates. You can find some with 75% commissions on clickbank.

Kamal. the products will be on a website such as clickbank.com

This is where the owner puts the products BECAUSE HE WANTS YOU TO SELL THEM. because the products is on a affiliate website, you dont need to ask him anything. just decide the products you want to promote and your set!

Basically, yes. I'm going to go out on a limb and make the assumption you haven't read through this forum much before posting this?

just assume his english is not good enough for him to understand the concept of affiliate marketing

Speaking fluent English (or any English at all, for that matter) has nothing to do with understanding the concept of affiliate marketing. There are thousands of people on this forum who speak with broken English that are very successful with affiliate marketing.

And the fact that he had to ask if you could sell something 'without telling' the owner of the product tells me he just plain hasn't done any homework at all. A search for 'affiliate marketing' just on this forum would have brought up tens of thousands of results which he could have perused.

A simple search on Google would have answered his question in the very first result:

          affiliate marketing - Google Search

I don't mind answering questions for people in the least, but I'm not going to do your research for you.

There are a number of sites where you can either sign up to be an affiliate for products to sell or apply to affiliate programs.

      Clickbank.com
      RAPBank.com
      Digiresults.com
      ShareASale.com
      LinkShare.com
      WarriorPlus.com

If you are just starting out with affiliate marketing, try out clickbank first and get an idea of how the process works. The process of affiliate marketing is relatively straightforward - you do the work and the owner pays you a portion of the sales price.

There are a lot of twists and tweaks you can do to make more money and sell more, but at its core, affiliate marketing is like being a commission salesperson.

Affiliate marketing is not actually reselling the product on your own...therefore it is very much legal as you don't take ownership of the products being sold through you...

And if I will get some products not from affiliate websites like clickbank, i must just ask the owner for reselling and getting all money to me?

That sounds more like the idea of being a reseller. Where buy the products first and then sell them to somebody else.

You could also get permission from the product owner privately to sell their product and they would deliver the product for you. There are a couple of ways these kinds of things can be done.

If a seller has set up an affiliate program, they have already given permission. If not, there is no reason why you can't ask them to set something up for you.

how can a affiliate product exist with out it being on an affiliate website/system?

your talking about reselling items as your own. that is not legal

there are plenty of products that are being offered for you to sell by owners.
forget about selling things that do not have a affiliate system

You still don't get it. So, read this carefully:

You can NOT get my product and sell on your website. No.

You can sign up on MY site as an affiliate and send traffic/buyers to MY site and the software will pay you 50% or 75%, depending on the product.

I own the product. You are my "salesman". You get commission (%) if I make a sale.

      Is it clear(er) now?

What you are asking about here is called resell rights, master resell rights, and/or private label rights. These are sold specifically for you to resell, and keep all the money.

kamalmx - think of affiliate marketing as hiring a commissioned sales person.

A product owner hires the affiliate (sales person) to help sell their product. The affiliate brings visitors to the owner's website where the product is sold.

In return, the owner gives the affiliate / sales person a commission, or percentage of each sale the affiliate helps create.

There are many possible variations. But basically, that's it.

Of course it's legal. You do it with the permission of the owner and only receive a cut of the sale.

Why are you folks assuming he is talking about digital products? He may be talking about physical products, and if so, it IS possible to sell someone elses stuff on his web site without being an affiliate.

With affiliate marketing, you find a product you want to sell and sign up for the affiliate program. You are then given a unique affiliate link that you place on your website/blog, in your emails, etc.

You do need to let others know that you are an affiliate of the product you are promoting. The FTC now requires a disclosure on your site/blog/whatever that tells that you will earn a commission from the sales of the product. Maybe you are getting that confused with it being legal.

Okay, there seems to be a lot of confusion in your mind on this, and it's really not as complex as you are trying to make it.

As an affiliate, you are working as an independent sales person for the product owner. The product owner is getting paid for the sale. The product owner is delivering the product. You are getting paid through the affiliate program (authorized by the product owner) a commission for bringing the product owner the sale.

In this case there is no REselling going on, because you are not buying the product to sell it, you never have ownership or even a financial interest in the product. Your job, as an affiliate, is to sell for the product owner, and for that, you are paid a percentage commission on each sale you bring to the product owner.

This is probably because the very first post he made was talking about affiliate marketing... And whether dealing with a physical or digital product as an affiliate, the principle remains the same. He is selling FOR the product owner, and being paid a commission for doing so.

I revealed a secret a while back how I made $1000 by just writing an article and plugging an affilate program .

I really only like plugging high affilate programs these days. It as easy as selling a $30 ebook and getting a commision. But you are only getting $15. I say plug a $1000 product and get a $500 commision. the work is about the same. Seriously.
