How long for a free video? 20min too long?

Does anyone think 20 minutes is too long for a lead generation vid?

I've tried to trim the fat but I don't think I can trim it anymore without fundamentally altering its purpose ( it was 35 min).

The vids I've noticed are only 5 or 6 minutes.
Is 6 minutes the maximum you can hope to hold a visitor's attention or does it depend on the vid?

Anyone have any experience using longer videos? Perhaps I should give the first min free and charge 1.99 per minute after (joking)

Thanks in advance.

Try breaking it up into separate videos, like chapters in a book yah?

I agree, breaking it up into multiple videos may be the best way to go. People now days don't have a huge attention span and may just get bored with one 20 min video. However, if you were to make it 3 separate 6 min videos and break it up into "chapters" then it would keep people interested a bit more. I found this out the hard way. My first video was 27 minutes long on a specific area of interest. I found most people would start it and then abandon about half way through. When I broke it down into 4 separate videos, my views for that video rose by almost 10 fold. Just my two cents.

    swilliams09 has a good idea.

Another thing you can do is give the first 5 minutes to generate the lead and at the end pitch the rest of the video for like $5

This is a really dirty trick if the first 5 minutes has no value, so I suggest you be careful with it.

You mean for a squeeze page? then absolutely, it's too long. Dont split it up though. Instead, record an intro video (3 mins max) explaining what the full video is about and how your subscribers will profit from it.

No not a squeeze page. It's a "I'll show you how to do something and if you don't want to do it after the vid then hire me" type of video.

However, I just looked it over again and it's actually a product.

I think I'll create a ecover for it and use it as a bonus for another product. 4- 5 min videos Thanks!!!

I agree, break it up into small section chapters. That way whoever is watching them will be able to keep focused for a little while longer. Or at least into two videos or something.
