I have a problem finding out what other's problems are

I've been through a few trainings now where they say that in order to create a info product, all you need to do is find out what people want & then give it to them.

One way is to do a survey and ask people a few questions like... "What is your biggest problem or frustration with xyx?"

My biggest problem or frustration with this (lol), is how do I get people in forums to actually take a survey monkey survey??

I've had some experience with outsourcing and thought it would be fun to put together a low ticket WSO or webinar training helping people with outsourcing. But I first want to know what problems people are/have had, what their fears are, whats stops them etc... so i can then create a training that gives them the solution.

But how can I get people to take a survey?

You will do survey if you have your own list. If you don't have it...you can't do it.

How to find problems in your niche? Start hunting niche forums. Look for sticky posts, most viewed threads, most commented threads. Just start looking what people ask in forums.

Next move to another forum. Do exactly the same there...

After 5-10 forums, you can see most common problems. Once you have most common problems, start searching for solutions. How YOU can fix their problems.

Once you have your product up, you can do your survey and improve your current product. Add more stuff, create updated version.

You can find out why people want if you visit some forums inside your niche. Another good method will be Google Keyword tool. Let`s say for example that you`re target the weight loss niche. You go to GKT and type in "weight loss" and you will see dozens of keywords sucu as "how to eight loss in 1 week" "how to lose arm fat" "how to lose 10 pounds in 1 week" etc. Of course they are general keywords but you would have a start point and you can begin to dig deeper. Another good option is to visit Ning communities related to your niche. On Ning people are making communities. What a community has in common is the fact that all the members in that community has the same problem they want to resolve or they are looking for a specific service.

I totally agree with Margo. You have to start with your list first because that is where you have relationships and trust. Why don't you start here on WF, instead of asking how to get people to take a survey, ask a better question. Start informally and get participation.

There are only a few major problems with outsourcing and if you have experience in outsourcing you know what most of them are already.

Why don't you ask people directly without a survey what bad experiences they had with outsourcing?

I'll start because we all love to complain. I bought a course on outsourcing and it said to hire a Filipino full time because they are a perfect match for North American business people. I hired 3 in a row and found many outsources will over charge their time, they over estimate their experience, most don't communicate very well once the job has started. Most of the jobs in my experience have been executed poorly at best and result in incomplete work.

It may not be as neat and clean to tabulate the responses but you can get an idea of common problems.

Spend time researching conversations happening in your market and jot down what the problems seem to be. You will have to make some educated guesses but as you do it more, patterns will emerge.

Then create some free content and give it away. Ask those people about their fears etc. And refine your original list.

Look in forums, articles on big sites and their reader comments, amazon reviews, keywords etc.
