should i use clickbank or my own billing/aff system?

hello guys and girls, i have a bit of a delemer.

im almost ready to release a new tutorial system ive been working on (its a wordpress product)

now i have my own billing system which is used for my hosting and other products (whmcs), which can also look after affiliates.

the problem i have found is that it is hard to find affiliates for my products.

to get round this i was thinking maybe of binning my billing system for this product. and using clickbank.

do you think this would attract more affiliates?

also i havent used clickbank before, what would be the best way to deliver the files after a purchase? (automated of course)

      Hi!

There are lots of people who are wondering what is better, Clickbank or your own affiliate system. Well, here are some facts about both.

Benefit of Using Clickbank As Your Affiliate Manager

      1. They handle all affiliate payments and returns for you - this can become a major factor as your affiliate list and sales grow.

      2. You will gain affiliates through being present on the Clickbank system, though I've found the degree of interest differs greatly depending on the product niche or topic, title, commission you offer, and popularity of your product. I have also noticed that sometimes it takes a few months to get your product noticed by affiliates on their system.

      3. Nice, simple, effective and trusted system for handling both payment and affiliate management for online businesses - with a strong emphasis on digital download or digitally offered products such as e-books, reports, private sites, etc...

Disadvantages of Using Clickbank To manage Your Affiliate Program

      1. You lose some granularity in tracking - an affiliate tracking system you run on your own server will give you good statistics on visitors, page views as well as purchases by affiliate

      2. Not integrated with an autoresponder system such as a 1ShoppingCart solution that allows you easy access to your affiliates via broadcasts, autoresponders, etc...

      3. Cannot offer two-tier programs that may become important in the case of certain joint ventures where a jv broker wants to promote your program for you and take a cut

Really is a trade-off. I tend to offer my core products through my own affiliate program with other niche products in health and wellness, alternative health and personal development field on Clickbank - but that's just me.

      I hope it was helpful,

      Tomas

Sorry but there is no right or wrong answer. It really depends on your offer, your customers, and just about any other thng that could affect sales. The only way you can tell how your customers will respond is to test.

I for one would love to know where to offer my products too but it's really a guess until you try each way and see which one works best for you.

i think im gonna stay with my own system.

i was thinking if i use clickbank i would get hundreds of affiliates right away, but that doesnt seem to be the case.

it makes it easier for me to stick with my own system, and the reasons i would move doesnt seem to be true.

i feel maybe a "getting affiliates" wso is on the cards after ive sorted this product out.

When I had my Photoshop site I ran my own affiliate programme. NEVER AGAIN! It was sooooooo much hassle: keeping track of affiliates, sending the payments, handling the returns - the list went on and on.

You're much better off having a third-party provider like ClickBank handle all this IMHO.
