Can you buy through your link?

Hey i was wondering if it was against clickbank policy to buy through your affiliate link to reduce the price of a product. Can you do this?

Thanks
-Mike

      Can you? Yes.

      Should you? Depends.

If you find a product on all your own I guess it's one thing but if you are buying a Clickbank product because someone else told you about it (i.e referred you) I think it is downright unethical to cheat that person out of their commission for their hard work.

How would you feel if every person that came to your site bought through their OWN link?

Plus, you still have to report the income on your taxes so it's not like its saving you all that much in most cases anyway.

I did that to only test to see if I would get credited a sale. since I am my first review site and I didn't want to get scammed. I might consider buying from someone else link once I get an income flowing in, but untill then I need to spend as least as I can.

I am one a budjet, and i am going to get into my 2nd review site this week. wish me luck, private message me if you have any tips on what I should do for my next review site.

any help at this point would be great, considering the only sale I made was from when I bought it. and I think that if you know about clickbank products then it is okay to buy them with your link, we are targeting the people that do not know about it/ the normal joe's

Yes , you can but I think it is a bit dishonest .After doing all that work , would like someone else to cut you out by using their own affiliate link instead .If the answer is no , then don't do it .You get what you give

  • Yup, that is one of the most well-known disadvantages to Clickbank. BUT Clickbank won't release a check to you until you have had at least 5 sales under your account:

"Unless an account contains sales made with 5 or more different credit card numbers, including at least one Visa card, and one MasterCard, our system will not generate a check for that account (even if the balance has met or exceeded the payment preference). PayPal purchases do not count toward the minimum."

I'm not looking to opt in on the morality argument, because I have my own views about this practice, but I just thought I might make an observation.

Vendors on clickbank put products on clickbank because we understand the leverage of affiliate marketing. We expect that a proportion of our product sales will result in a percentage going to our affiliates. Sure, we have regular sales from our own sales page and get to keep all the profits, but the fundamental attaction to clickbank is revenue and labor sharing. If I was offered 100 self generated sales or 1000 affiliate ones, bar a niche market that was extremely finite or time sensitive, it's a no brainer.

With that in mind, is it really worth getting that upset about and hollaring 'cheater' when dollars are still hitting your account?

*cough* There sure is something nice about being able to pay your own way though

I think it's a good idea to buy through your own link when you are buying a product to review and promote...

Downside to buying products through your own link is Clickbank has lots of restrictions and requirements for money so if you aren't making regular sales your money may get "locked" at Clickbank.

Understand if you buy with your own link and you are not making sales it can be a very long time before you ever receive your commission. They have rules about number of unique credit cards required before they ever start paying out.
