If you're new to website building then I would suggest an adsense site. Target high CPC adwords keywords and build a really valuable site that gives the reader high quality information.

Make sure all of your content is hand written and unique.

Put a link to some other site somewhere in the text at the bottom and hide the link by matching the color to the text. So G doesn't think you just have a BFA site.

Promote the living &84^% out of it and learn via doing.

Make the site 50+ pages over time with each page focused on just one keyword. Promote each page see which ones rank and feed the winners.

Of course if I were going to all this effort I would be looking to make more than 30 pounds a month. That would pretty much get eaten up in costs. Of course once you are successful with one site you just rinse an repeat. Imagine 100 sites making that same 30 pounds a month. Now thats some coin.

30 quids per month should not be all that hard to achieve. The main concern is traffic. And it doesn't matter how you monetize the site.
If you go for an Adsense site, check out the Google Keyword tool. Try to find a keyword with around $2 ECP and check if a lot of related keywords are in that same EPC range.
Build your website around a Wordpress theme. Place one ad in every article on the top left side.
Add an article every other day.
Get the Onlywire free service and wordpress plugin.

Now if you constistently put up quality articles around your keyword 'theme' you should be getting traffic. And after you make a profit, you start to hire people.

Create an 'editor' account on your blog and pay a writer $5 per article that they place under that editor account.

Now that you don't have to work on this site anymore you have the time to work on a new one. Rinse and repeat.
And soon enough you will be on the top of the hill.

    Anyway.. That is the theory.

Any site can make $30 as long as it has Traffic. No Traffic= No Money. Simple.

Decent money for a single, small, mostly autopilot site that you have a lot of...

      £30 per month x 100 sites = £3000 per month.:p

In my opinion a site is worth keeping if it pays more than its total costs (including any management needed, whether by me or outsourced)

As long as a site has decent traffic they can bring in money. It also depends how you are monetizing your site. This is very important.
Also driving the right kind of targeted traffic will equal sales.

I like to build sites that make a passive income or recurring income.
    Membership sites are great.
Promoting products that have a subscription
    Selling advertising
    Adsense ads
    etc

I agree with Nikki. Automatic money coming in without having to continue to work a lot of hours is they key for me. Adsense works well, but it's not the only way. I do okay with CJ and Amazon too.

Like others said - plenty of traffic is the KEY.
