Facebook usernames and short URL questions...
OK, I'm behind the Facebook curve a bit as a marketer and need some help if anyone can lend a hand.
I have a client who created a Fanpage for their business before they hired me for marketing. I tried to secure their business name through FB as a shorter FB url.
Example: facebook.com/abcbusiness
But, since they have more than 100 connections, FB won't let me make any changes to their page name.
So, there is an option to set up a username, which I did which secured the short URL of facebook.com/abcbusiness. BUT, when you type in that URL, you are directed to the business owners personal profile page instead of the business page.
I need to ramp up advertising and will be getting a bunch of "likes" and connections for the business but need to know if I should proceed with the current FB set up or if I need to delete the current page and start over or what would be the best way to proceed.
One thing I did find out is that if I just delete the username, it will no longer be available "for security reasons", according to FB.
Any suggestions?
