Does anybody have any advice, or knowledge of phillipine workers who can do the job, and also offer quality services, and communication?

I use oDesk. I have found some great freelancers there. But its worthwhile checking them and getting them to do a trial job first before hiring.

There are a few people selling outsource guides in WSO section. From what I hear they give the inside scoop on getting the right outsources at the best rates and quality. I picked one up yesterday but haven't had much time to go through it yet.

Hi Luca, not wishing to be racist, I have limited experience through a local webfirm company who outsourced the majority of their web programming with ruby on rails to phillapines people. Some of the work was done ok, but if it wasnt, they wouldnt tell you, just pass it off as finished and get onto the next job, which meant that we always had to double check. Like the story of some races, they like to take national holidays and sick days and not always report that they are going to do so.

The bottom line is that it is always good if you can get a manager over there to control the work or you build up a strong relationship using skype.

It is not always about price As far I concern i need some clearity with my orders and that is why I am ordering to Philipines just do work with some basic stuff and some stuff where is no logins/passwords and so on.
Just they can be/act strange sometimes...sometimes you can not understand them...sometimes they refuse to do work etc....
You will feel a bit scroowed when it's happens with your work which you care about....
      Just my 5 cents....

      Hmmm...

Any post that starts off with, "I don't want to be racist, but..." probably isn't going to come out very well.

      Try this one on:

"I once bought some books on Amazon.com and they took FOREVER to ship them to me. I don't mean to be racist, but I think it probably has to do with the lazy Americans and their lazy culture. Also, they have an affirmative action program and I hear they hire lots of _____..."

I don't think there's any particular "races" that like to take more holidays than others. They definitely have some different holidays out here than you might be used to, but that would be your problem not theirs, no? If you're planning to work internationally, you'd better get a grip on some of their customs, culture, etc. or agree beforehand on some ground rules.

Anyway, it's frustrating when people paint an entire country or culture with a broad brush like that. You wouldn't appreciate it and they don't either.

This would be the case with any outsourced workers - you really have to train them properly and keep tabs on what they're doing. If you think you can just outsource something, not have to lift a finger and get things done completely for you, expect to pay considerably higher prices.

These outsourced workers are your employees, and as such it is your responsibility to train and monitor them appropriately - it'd be exactly the same scenario if you were hiring someone in your own country. Employees need to be trained and told what to do, you can't expect them to 'read' your mind!

If you expect outsourcing to be some kind of magic solution where you have amazing 'mind reader'-type workers who'll magically read your mind and do everything you need for pennies on the dollar, then you're sadly mistaken.

I think it takes time to reach a point where people are valuable to you, and you have to spend time developing people knowing that some will not stick with you.

When listening to a workshop replay with Eben Pagan, I remember he talk about something very important: having the good worker at the good place. The best way to find a good worker is by trying him for 1 month.

Everyday, you ask him to write down what he did, what he learned that day and what he could have done better. Some questions like that will tell you a lot about the guy.
