My 2009 Blog Visits Challenge

Hi,

I'm currently a student on Alex Jeffreys' coaching program and a blogging newbie.

Last night he set us students the task of generating as many visitors to our blogs as we can by 1st January 2009. So I thought it would be cute to set my target at 2009 visitors to my blog by that date.

Now we did discuss some of the means of achieving this, but I know there are some highly creative people on this forum. You probably already know the hot techniques that work like gangbusters.

So I thought that rather than try to reinvent the wheel I'd ask you good folks if you have some killer ideas that would help me achieve my target.

Now being a blogging newbie I'm not even sure whether my target is realistic or not? I mean I only have 13 days including today to get there.

So I'd appreciate your help. Any ideas you have or advice I'd be glad to hear them. I'll be keeping a daily record of my progress on my blog.

Many thanks.

Jeff.

    Jeff,

If you haven't already, join Twitter.com and build up a list
of followers. When you update your blog with a new post,
tweet an announcement to encourage people to visit that
    specific post.

If your content is relevant to your target audience and of
real interest you may also benefit from "re-tweets"

      Thanks John.

Do I have time to learn to use twitter effectively?

What's the quickest way to build a list of followers?

      13 days and counting!

Post a few really useful threads (like David Preston's 'stupidly simple' idea) which will get alot of views and lot of discussion. That should get you alot of people visiting your blog through your sig. Also just participate as much as possible in the forum and once people start to recognise your name and recognise you as someone who provides good information they will start to visit your blog to find out more about you.

Don't forget to add a pic of yourself to your profile.

Ask various marketers for donated prizes and run a contest. Promote said contest on forums, other blogs (through comments), Twitter and so on. Set tasks (like blogging about the contest) so that it spreads.

In conjunction with this, you could also guest post on a few blogs. This should see you over the 2k visitor mark comfortably.
