Making my product but I'm no expert...

I am in this predicament wherein I am in the process of making an ebook and I've realized that it'll be difficult for me to market it as I don't have any credentials to win the prospect's trust. I've gone through my competition and it is filled with people who give a lot of details of themselves on their sales pages. I'm just a person with knowledge of the niche but don't have any experience whatsoever to back me. I do not believe in lying to my customers at all. How can I convince them to buy my product without sounding immature?

    I don't see the problem. Your personal experience is only one part of your copy.
    Leave it out and stress your assets.
    Unless you go to compare yourself with your competitor.
    In that case you would be far better off comparing products and leave the people behind it out of the equation.

    You can win more trust, credibility and desire by offering one chapter for free download.
    You shouldn't really be talking about yourself anyway. I think you are fine.

    You don't have to be an expert, you just have to know more than your readers. Focus on the information you're offering. You have the knowledge, you are saving them from having to look up that information themselves, and you're presenting it in a clear way.

    If possible, give a few review copies in exchange for testimonials.

    To be honest, I think sometimes it's better not to be an expert--I have a theory that sometimes newbies prefer 'regular guys' to gurus.

    Hi Raindance,

    It's okay doesn't matter you are in whatever niche, you can always have the space for your own feet.

    As what rosegrower76 said, giving away a few copies of your product for people who's in need and in exchange for a testimonial.

    Also send your review copy to all your competitors and ask them for a review and a JV as well. No harm giving out for free to your competitors.

    It's more on a giving now and you will receive more in future

    Lastly, do a press release for your product, it will helps in branding.

    I agree with the first two replies... focus on the benefits your ebook provides to your reader. What will THEY get from reading it?

    No one is born an expert... it comes with time. Don't forget to ask for testimonials from those who read your book an liked it. This will help add some social proof to your sales page.

    I still dont get e-books, I get that they are used as a lure for building lists, but I figure that most people visiting my site are knowledgeable about the product to some extent. OK, I know that I may know more than the average person on my niches, but its a fine line between being an expert and talking low end so people understand.

      I agree with Bruce.

      I give one away when people sign up, but the hassle that is involved with eBooks to the price you can sell it for is hardly worth the effort.

        Something else to consider: this depends on the niche, but sometimes just having a product of your own will brand you as being an expert. People see your name on the product and associate you with the expert status.

        Review copies are a great idea, and you can also interview 1 or more of who YOU consider to be "experts" and add that interview in as a bonus to the main product.

        That way, their name is on it as well, lending the credibility you don't think you have right now.

          That is called branding and it can work for you or against you. You build a crappy name for yourself and there will be trouble.

          But create a good name and the world can be yours.

          Think tony robbins here. His busienss is a name unto itself.

    rosegrower76 is right. You just have to know more than your prospects.

    Maybe you can use your lack of experience to your advantage. "I took months learning this information, but you can learn it in under a week with my guide" or something along those lines.

    I use to struggle with the same issue. What I learned though was that it was more a lack of confidence, more than anything that made me feel the way you're feeling right now.

    Get your inner game on point, and you won't have to worry about that anymore.

    At the end of the day, most of the best creative ideas (or products) in the world are 10% improvements on proven concepts.

    So don't be like me and spend years trying to recreate the IM wheel. Spend less time trying to be brilliant and more time studying what the brilliant have done.

    Thanks everyone for your replies. The answers you have given provided me with a wonderful idea about how can I make my sales page alluring. And I'm not launching this product in the typical fashion, it is kind of an experiment. I'm making a brand new list and starting everything from scratch to see how it shapes out. If it really works well, I will make a lot of money. Hence, I'm not approaching anyone other than my prospects for it. :p

    Hi Raindance,

    Thank you for the thread. What I find (depending on the niche) is starting my sales letters with a story converts the best. Just spend 10 minutes to come up with a 10x bullet point list of what makes you and your product unique and go from there.

    For example, you may have downloaded 3 eBooks on your subject, studied them and put your own content together... that means you're like 3x experts rolled into one. Obviously your sales letter needs to be true though.

    If you are knowledgeable at your niche , there are two ways to to break the hurdle .

    1. Find experienced and trusted people in your niche and discuss on how to work together .

    2. The other way is ...use the principle of reciprocity .

    If you provide people with valuable and high value free content that help help them solve their existing problem , then it would not be difficult to break the barrier .
