WSO Sellers, Want Me To Open Your Emails? Remind Me How We Met

I buy my fair share of WSOs and inevitably end up on the seller's email list. No problem. Chances are, if I like their WSO, I might also like their other products, services or recommendations.

The fact that I've purchased from you makes me just the kind of customer you're looking for (a buyer) and assuming your WSO didn't suck, we've established a basic level of trust.

Then you start sending me follow-up emails. But there is an immediate point of friction. I would say about 95% or more of the follow-up emails I receive assume that I know you by your name or your WF moniker. I don't!

At first it might look 'familiar', but I'm not going to take the time to track you down and figure out if you're legit or not. So, at first I just ignore your emails and eventually I unsubscribe.

When you send follow-up emails to buyers, remind them how they know you! At minimum, start off with something like "You are receiving this email because you purchased XYZ WSO".

Even if I don't remember the purchase in detail, I'll think "hey, I bought something from this person, let's see what else they have".

Voila! Simple addition, automatic boost to your open rates, click-through rates and sales.

thanks,

Valerie

With Gmail, you can see the first sentence without opening the email.

Not sure if other email systems are like that, but since Gmail is a popular option for many, it might be a good idea for the first sentence to be a reminder.

Totally agree. When making bigger purchases outside the warrior forum I usually will be familiar with the seller. But with WSO prices I don't mind to buy stuff quickly and without ever having heard the seller's name before. Then again I might look at the product only short time, with little chance of identifying the seller.

A few weeks back someone send me an email like "you bought from one of my products a while ago...please send me a testimonial." He wanted a testimonial and didn't even care to mention for which product.

I unsubscribe from WSO lists quicker than from other lists, just because the super cheap WSO purchase itself is so insignificant, and many sellers don't seem to have much to write about anyway.

Yeah Gmail does show the first line. A lot of people's list I'm on always have some catchy title but shows its not real in the first sentence, Like

        You Made a Sale
Thats what you will see everyday when...

These types of marketers need to learn that the first sentence is also the title now. Anyways, thanks for the tip.

It was a tongue in cheek reply.

Guess it's my old age but getting tired of rants. One marketer demands this, another says if he doesnt recognize your name its spam and gets reported.

Could we do better with crafting our emails? Sure but it's just going overboard now.

It's easy to put a reminder. GetResponse will do it for me but does it increase conversions? Dunno but I would bet on it decreasing them. It would be distracting.

Then you have people like me who send a broadcast to all my lists so crafting a well perceived reminder that works w/ the flow would take to long. Not to mention that people would then get duplicates - increased complaints there.

Very good point. I have the same problem and end up not opening emails. I think WSO sellers could benefit from adapting the email headline to refer to the original product.

The reason you don't get reminded is because often the WSO seller (or most vendors in general) don't take the time to craft a proper autoresponder sequence (we've all been guilty of doing this on a product, simply having only one set a/r message which is the "here's your download" message)...

I try to craft a decent 2 week follow up that has more bonuses and tips and tend to remind people at the bottom of the page above the unsubscribe link that they bought "xyz wso"...

In regular broadcasts I put a generic reminder similar to that one (you bought a product or subscribed to my list) but I always wonder if it's enough...

Thanks for the reminder... Often we forget about the folks on the other side of the email address...

One more thing: it doesn't help the seller to build a brand when they don't use their name in the forum (profile names like supercooldude or xyc785) and they sign their emails with their first name only. There's a lot of Peters, Pauls, and Marys in the world.

I was thinking about this recently. Many times I kept myself thinking how did I ended up in that guys' list just to remember how much later.

Other authors offer products so good or have such an efficient personal branding that I always remember what I bought from them.

It was a little late. Don't remember how many drinks you had. You were talking about immediate points of friction, sucking and trust.

But before the final goodnight farewell (which was well worth it) you gave me your email address and said ...

'Please write me. Soon. Every day. I'll read with anticipation your every word and do whatever you say. Where have you been all my life?'

I have had this same issue where I don't remember who someone is. What I do is click unsubscribe, then the next screen tells me what I signed up for and when. At that point I decide if I want to stay subscribed or not.
