Can Google Track Conversions To Keyword Level Without Unique Landing Pages?

5 replies
Hey Warriors,

I'm looking at some info that recommends you create unique
landing pages (Not for quality score) but for tracking purposes.

Like:
KeyWord1LandingPage=1
KeyWord2LandingPage=2
KeyWord3LandingPage=3
Etc...

Do you need to do that if you have your own site and can
install Google's conversion tracking code?

Or is this only for affiliate sales when you can't install
Google's code on the merchant's thank you page?

Thanks for the help.

Darn mental speedbumps...

      I should have been more clear.

      I meant AdWords conversion tracking.

      Not Analytics.

      Thanks!

        Sean,
        Is the end result attempting to show you the best converting keywords or the best converting landing page...or both?

          Jack,

          It was for tracking keywords only.

          So the goal is to find the profitable keywords.

          And ditch the ones that are costing you money.

            Yes you can do this - (if I understand you properly), by running a search query report. This shows you all of the keywords outside of the main term (obviously you wont see much if all your keywords are exact match!).

            I do this on a daily basis so that I can turn broadmatch ad groups into exact match long tail groups as well. Lifts my CTR, and helps the conversions.

            Not the easiest thing to do, at least for me, but totally worth it.
