Default Places to buy legit newsletter/opt-in ads. Let's list 'em...

Hey guys,

I've only ever purchased I think something like 2 or 3 ads in a newsletter - and it was from publishers I already knew in my niches.

All the rest of my email "ads" have been JV's.

BUT - it got me thinking...

Is there an "Adbrite" for mailing lists out there?

There was a thread the other day that got canned started by a guy that claimed to be the top affiliate for "top secret fat loss secret" by essentially ripping their salespage and buying ads from a legit mailing network.

Others in the thread slammed the affiliate for ripping the site, but they praised the newsletter ad source. It was health-related, I believe. I intended to bookmark the site but when I came back to find the thread, it was gone.

Anyway, if you know of that site and others, let's make this thread a resource of places to buy legit adspace in opt-in, topical newsletters.

Here's a few to start off with...

The Directory of Ezines - Ezine advertising works! The Directory of Ezines makes it work for you!

The Ezine Directory

Ezine Directory - EzineListing.com

eZINESearch eZines Database, The Ultimate ezine Database: over 3,000 ezines

Newsletters - Newsletter Directory Covering Every Topic and Specializing in Investment News.

Search the Largest Online Database of U.S. & Canadian Publications and Catalogs

Free Email Newsletters: Ezines | Newsletter Directory

And here's a tip on how to make email ads work better:

https://www.marketingsherpa.com/barr...ml?ident=24193

(Free registration required - marketingsherpa is a great resource anyway)

Alright - now let's see what sites you know about :-)

Chris, do you really find useful a list of ezines directories that you can find anyway if you search on Google?

On the other hand, indeed ezines directories have the advantage that you can find a lot of ezines listed there.

However ...

The disadvantage is that no one can really control what is listed there. Therefore when you talk about legit ad space, I really don't know what you're talking about.

I know ezines directories where are listed so called ezines but when you click on their link you find an affiliate "money making" site. If you search on Google, you find such a directory right on first page. But first page on Google doesn't mean anything when you talk about the quality of the content.

I know many ezines directories that contain OUTDATED information or even ezines no longer published (despite the fact that ezine's site is still online).

I know ezines directories (some of them you already listed) where some of my own ezines are listed but ... I never updated my listings (and the ezines are there since years!). I never received an update request. I tried myself to update the listings, but this NORMAL feature was not there. Sometimes I wasted my time and I tried to contact the owner ... no response. This is how the real life is! Do you really think that I will try once again to update my listings? Why waste my time?

Is not that the owners of these directories are not doing their job. The problem is that you really cannot have an updated directory of thousands of ezines. Unless your goal is to lose time & money.

I know, I know, a place where you can find a lot of information looks great.

However, when you look from inside, then you see that the things are not that nice ...

Adrian,

That's not what I was asking.

I am aware that directories can't control the quality or currency of their listed sources.

However, there are a lot of safelist services, actual publishers with ad rates and so on that ARE legit.

It's a big business.

And I was opening up this thread as a "resource thread" for listing those, since Google often doesn't bring up what you *really* want.

Ezine Directory - EzineListing.com

John Labovitz's E-ZINE-LIST

Jogena's free ezine directory

I never tried these. Just they are in Favs. I usually use Ezinelocater.com to get ezine information.

Chris, you must be confused. Because we all know that Google's main concern is the user's experience.

Chris- the resource Nullnuts posted about was Newsmax.com, and yes, it's a great place for high-performing email drops, but like all such quality, it's not super cheap ;-)

But that's OK with me- performance is all that matters!

Hope that helps...

Then you're confused. In the original post you were talking about newsletters. Now you're talking about safelists.

There is a huge difference between newsletters and safelists.

People subscribe to newsletters to get information. People join safelists to send their ads.

In first case (newsletters), your prospects are people who want information. In the second case (safelists), your prospects are people who want to send ads (not to read your ads).

You should know that there are automatic tools that join thousands of safelists, confirm the memberships, send the ads and delete daily the junk mail (including YOUR nice looking ad).

As I said,a huge difference. So after all, what are you looking for?

Then why did you start a list of such ezines directories? Again: what are you looking for?

Just a list of no matter what, no matter quality, no matter anything, but a list?
