How many WP sites do you usually host in your space?

I don't think user experience would suffer, it will be same as a single website will have. Though it may impact your total transfer of data i.e. bandwidth (if it's not unlimited).

I use hostgator to host about 15-20 WP sites per account.

Just my opinion, but if you're worried about "the user experience" on your site then I would avoid auto scraper plugins. Have you ever visited a site built from an auto scraper plugin that was actually useful and a good experience?

I too would like to know an answer to this .
I have 6 domains with HG so if I install WP on all do I have to have a different log in for each domain for WP

Yes, each domain will have it's own WP Control Panel (or Dashboard). It will be yourdomain.com/wp-admin

Honestly it wouldn't be about the speed. They are selling "unlimited" hosting so they MUST have powerful servers to be able to uphold what they are selling. Their servers are more than capable of handling over 2000 websites and I wouldn't be surprised if that's how much they are throwing per server (overselling happens with unlimited, but they are able to manage it which is what matters).

Just read their TOS on CPU policy, if you throw too much sites under one cPanel, it might start using a lot of CPU and your account might be suspended. Maybe after 5-10 sites you should purchase a new hosting plan.

I have multiple Hostgator accounts each with 25 WP sites and that's about the limit you want. Each WP site has about 100 plugins and each site is a very heavy duty website to handle 1,000 visits per day from humans in addition to the zillions from bots. There is NO slowdown compared to a brand new Hostgator account with the first WP up and running.

Each week I run a total backup of each account and that zip file is 2 GB long and it takes about 90-120 minutes to download with FileZilla.

If you don't backup your hosting site weekly you will eventually run into a problem that will kill your internet business.

  If your concerned about load times, then using the W3 Total Cache plugin might be good to help onsite performance, when properly configured it will improve load times quite a bit.

I'ld say 20-25 sites are good to keep you safe and under the radar as long as they're not very high trafficked.

In Hostgator they have a system wide backup on your Control Panel called "Backup" or "Backup Wizard".

It then does a background backup and sends you an eMail on how it did - it's important to read that eMail to make sure it had no problems.

Normally this takes 10 - 15 minutes before the eMail is sent and then you can use their utility to upload it to your hard drive, or use FileZilla, and get it on your hard drive. FileZilla is better at communications and if you lose your data feed it will start copying again exactly where it lost contact.

Every file and EVERY mySQL database is zipped into this one file. You can unzip it and upload any mySQLs that may have gone bad or copy back files in case you were somehow attacked.
