Not Breaking Even no Matter How I Try (Stuck between Newbieness and Guruness)

Dear Warriors,

Before I take the time to write whats is bothering me I would like to first thank you for taking the time to read this post as it means so much to me greatly I really mean it.

Brief back story. I have been online marketing for a while now and I went through the motions of failing and falling in love with the internet marketing world and I was really hooked. Signed up for some programs promoted them failed in some and the income was just coming in slow.

I started learning about myself and the core importance of who I am and what I have to offer the world.

I found a program to promote I went knee deep advertising, got some opt ins, made a small list and advertised to the list and I didn't get a RIO, but I made some sales and had a list of 200 I had to stop the PPC because I was spending myself to the ground. Set up an autoresponder and they just didn't buy anything else. Sent value by giving really good training and videos, but no responses I even did a launch and no action takers.

I learned some SEO and started a blogging and using some programs like Traffic geyser and other SEO tools, but I didn't seem to find anything that worked for me and for the market I was targeting. I followed successful marketers and all they did was selling product after product and at some point i just wanted to take action and start seeing results.

I have learned a lot through these struggles and I have awesome value to share with the competitive internet marketing niche. I created my first product that I would like to market. Now advertising is a problem lol still trying to break even. I am going to give out some bonuses and see what happens.
  1. My question is what is the IM guru timeling? and am I on the right track?
  2. PPC makes sense to me the most. How do I keep testing and what do I adjust to break even?
  3. SEO is free, but I never get the desired outcome do I just keep putting content out there for ranking?
  4. Article marketing I don't see opt ins from them do I just keep submitting?
  5. Right now I am concentrating on building a good responsive list of loyal fans do I just keep testing ppc until this I break even or generate a profit? Should I expect some kind of compound effect where I have a large list that when emailed to the money will be more than what i spend on advertising?

I have tried to talk to so called GURUs and they always send me to their high ticket coaching. I just want some one to point me to the right direction and I usually end up knowing more than the coaches. The coaches are gate keepers to me, but not all are just the ones I have come across trying to talk to big name gurus out there.

Warriors I know I am almost there its so close I can taste it. I need that info and the funny thing is I just don't know what I need to know, but when I am told what it is I would know it.

Thank you in advance for taking the time and reading this especially the GURUS I love you guys too.

Tony

Don't despair my friend. You will succeed. You mentioned that you really like PPC, that's great! Make sure that you do the following things.

    1. TEST, TEST, TEST some more
    2. Don't go over budget EVER.
    3. Don't be afraid to kill your campaigns when you don't see a return or if sales slow down.

Have you read any Dan Kennedy books yet? If not, I suggest reading The Ultimate Sales letter first and then read everything else he wrote. Do this like yesterday.

Please PM me if you'd like FREE consultation. I'm cool like that.

Thank Mark for that I will test my campaigns more. What would be a good budget to start with? I usually start with $100 to $200 to begin with?

I have not read any Dan Kennedy's books yet what book in specific do you recommended me to read first that tackle this problem in specific.

I will take you on that FREE consultation

Dan Kennedy is certainly a marketing icon but
in my opinion if you want to start throwing money
at ppc I would get ahold of Perry Marshall's material.

Well Dan Kennedy won't help you directly with PPC. But it will get your mindset right surrounding marketing and sales. It will also help you with writing copy which is the lifeblood of any converting ads.

Ideally, you want to start with as much money as you can AFFORD to lose. Don't spend more than that. I recommend, if you're totally new, to start with $50 to $100 to see how the process works. But if you're already beyond that then, start split testing headlines, body, landing pages, colors, words, offers, etc.

I look forward to hearing about your future success.

If you want some lessons to use as guidance, I suggest you Google "The 30 days Challenge" by Ed dale. It's free. That's where I learned how to make my first profit and it's been going up hill since...

And one more thing... You're going in the IM niche, creating a product about it (which I am assuming will be teaching how to succeed in IM using a certain method) but you have not succeeded in it yourself?? If so, then, NO. You are are in the right direction.

I have learned a lot in the internet marketing world and I have met lots a great people in this niche. Making money in the IM niche is not a sign of success and I am not teaching how to make millions of dollars because I am not in that stage, but in the struggles of going taking action on lessons and materials I have learned from I have acquired some skill that I can teach a complete newbie for example the IM road is not a simple on and it is not for everyone and not everyone will make millions of dollars doing it. I have made some money in another niche selling my services using my knowledge of online marketing and I know I can teach those skills to someone brand new.

It seems like that niche suits you. If you did make money, then, what's keeping you from continuing?? Did you suffer a loss rather than generate a profit?

If you tell us more about the business model you were using, I am sure we can give you some advice on how to make to turn things around.

Thank you Dash this may be the thing i need. Some kind of challenge. I will look it up and give it a try.

OK, so FIRST make sure you are not spending your time and effort flogging a dead horse.

    1. Find, something to promote - something you believe in
    2. Choose a method of sending the traffic - any method
    3. Send it 100 targeted visitors
    4. Do the math

If you are not in profit, drop it and find another product.

When you find a winner, THEN ramp up your efforts.

Dropping a campaign after 100 visitors seems a bit early.

You can hardly make any statistically valid conclusion after 100 visitors, and you may just throw away a campaign that could be profitable.

And what about tweaking and testing and improving performance?

Personal i spend my time and money on seo, checking on competition as not interested in paying for advertisment. IM and seo is a slow business but it's worth it all in the end.....i think lol

  • It took me a couple of years of building things up slowly before I was actually ever in profit with Internet Marketing.

Part of that was from doing things wrong. Part of it was from having more of a passing interest than serious aspirations. And, part of it was thinking more long-term than being in urgent need of short-term money.

I would make sales here and there, but they wouldn't cover my hosting and other costs etc.

Now, I'm a position where I've got enough products up for sale, and different sites in place, that I make a consistent profit, and would still make sales even if I did nothing with my sites and lists for a month. So, there is hope. Just make sure you're always building things that have long-term potential and stick with it.

I'd suggest looking at free solutions, rather than PPC. With a $200 budget, you can get an awful lot of articles written, or a product created for you, which will be a long-term asset. You don't even have to do everything yourself. You can get a lot outsourced for that money.

With article marketing how many articles do I need to submit to start seeing results and I understand that the SEO in the articles have to be good in order to get good ranking. And with the articles if am not getting any results with it should I target less competitive keywords, also do do I find less money making keywords that are less competitive for example keywords that are product specific.

I am not a guru, if there is such a think anyway.

But I will tell you I was stuck in this period for a while.

it was not until i met Mr Mike Filsaime (who is friggen awesome by the way) and he showed me how to make more money and get out of this newbie stage.

    His best tips were these

    1) Build list

    2) More products

    3) More affiliates.

Since I concentrated on all these three things everyday My businesses exploded.

    So you should try these.

Kind of like a shot gun effect? If you point it in the right direction and pull the trigger you are bound to hit something.
