QR Code question as it relates to business/personal

Hi Warriors:

Hope the weekend is going well as always.

A question tonight about QR Codes. Can you explain what I am missing here:

If it is true you can take a photo at a sporting event for instance of an advertisement with a QR Code and get to the company website is it that much of a difference if you took the photo of the phone of the actual website URL WWW. whatever
and typed it into an address bar?

I can only see it saving you a few seconds of time.

Am I wrong and if so could you please articulate the advantages to use it for business/personal use?

As always I will thank and or respond in 24 hours or less (current writing/marketing schedule is hectic).

Thank you all as always for the informative help,
Craig

You don't actually take a picture of the QR Code, you scan it. You need a smartphone app like Quickmark to scan the QR Code. The app will translate the code to text, URL or several other things. You won't have to type the URL into your browser. It's kind of like how UPC codes work at a grocery store scanner, you get a print out of everything you buy.

      Hi DNSG:

      Thanks for your reply.

I understand the comparison to the bar code in the supermarket but I'm still not seeing the benefit of saving 5 seconds.

      I hope somebody can clarify.

      All the best,
      Craig

You can put in QR code anything you want.
A long, long URL like the one of this thread: it would be pain in the back to have to type it in:
    Code:
    http://www.warriorforum.com/main-internet-marketing-discussion-forum/377070-qr-code-question-relates-business-personal.html
You scan it and it opens up in your browser. There is no photo involved!

Next, you can have a whole "business card" (I know I did it):
Company name, Website URL, phone number, address... and all ended up by a simple scan in the Contacts of my iPhone.

    etc... etc.

I suggest you go through this fine thread: you can learn a lot about QR codes:

QR codes can include a wide range of information, including:

    - text (any message)
    - URL
    - phone number
    - SMS message
    - email address
    - email message
    - contact details (business card)
    - event (calendar)
    - maps (Google maps for locations)
    - Wifi login
    - PayPal buy now button link
    - social media
    - YouTube video

There are probably others. (The QR code I'm using as my 'avatar
pic' actually points to a listing of my book on the Kindle store!)

By simply pointing a mobile device at a QR code, and having the
app scan it, you instantly get all the info coded into the QR
code onto your handheld - for later review, or to call/login/
visit/buy right away, with just a click.

It turns an OFFLINE browsing experience into an ONLINE one, which
likely will increase conversions. To my mind, the 'phase shift'
component is what makes this so exciting!

Contrast it against the "old way" of having to jot down the info
on a napkin or in a notebook, to later look at (if you remember
and haven't misplaced the scrap in the meantime) when you're at
    a computer terminal!

    All success
