[INDIANS] What ya' doing about PayPal?

Hey Indian Warriors.

How's everyone?

PayPal has recently updated its rules, in accordance
with the RBI regulations. The $500 limit, the 7-day
withdrawal limit, cannot send money to Indian
accounts, cannot use account balance to pay anyone
etc etc.. (More BS).

So, what have you done about it? Just using a CC?
And withdrawing your funds? Or moved to some
other payment processor?

Actually, I have a critical situation here. I'm 17 y.o.
and I do IM "under-the-hood". Nothing shady, but
no one, including my parents, knows about it. So,
there's just no way I can access their CC. Nor can
I apply for my own.

What should be done?

Karan

UPDATE (11/5/2011):

I talked to my dad last night, told him everything,
showed him my PayPal account, and blah blah..

His reaction? He handed me the bank account
and his CC happily, and didn't put even a single
question.

Wow. The problem's solved and I learned a lesson:
The greatest of the problems can be solved if you
talk about them!
:-)

Thanks You to everyone who replied and helped
me.

Karan

    Hey Karan,

I am still using paypal as I find that's the best online payment processing. Paypal's new rules have finally been implemented, so I got a CC to pay off for everything. The 7-day withdrawal rule isn't implemented yet as I have like over 1k $ in my balance and its been more then 10 days, I still have the balance. Regarding 500$ per transaction issue, you can request your clients to pay 500$ per transaction.

Regarding your credit card issue, you might want to apply for virtual credit card maybe, I am not sure if paypal accepts that, you might have to do a lil research.

Withdrawing funds to my bank account works like a charm, I get the money in my bank account in just 2 days, I bet no other payment processing can beat that so I will be sticking with paypal.

How on earth did you get a Credit card?

People in banks ask for the income proof and all crap..Can't help it.

I still need to use my dad's Credit Card for my FB ads and everything which makes me feel uneasy..

Aravindh, these days bank ask you to make Fixed Deposit, based on that they give you credit card and 80% credit on the amount of Fixed Deposit you have made.

I made a Fixed Deposit in the same bank where I hold my bank account and got my credit card activated in less then a week

        Finally I can spend

      Hey

I have a few hundred $ in my PayPal, but the thing
is that I want to use that money to buy stuff online.
But PayPal won't let me do that.

I have already listed my problem with the credit card.

Maybe the last option with me is to tell me parents
      everything.

As mentioned by iuditg, I too have a CC against a fixed deposit. There was no other way i could get one as i'm not a salaried employee.

Ask any of the main banks for details. Say you want a spending limit of 40K, then your FD will be a little over 50K.

Btw, what is this Purpose Code that Paypal is now asking for from Indians? Does it apply to online marketers?

"As part of our ongoing effort to comply with the requirements set out in the notification of the Reserve Bank of India (“RBI Guidelines”) that apply to all online payment gateways, all PayPal users in India will be required to add the following to their PayPal account in order to continue to receive export-related payments and withdraw money:

•A purpose code related to the majority of commercial activities for export-related payments
•A PAN or Permanent Account Number
•A bank account in India (if not previously added) "

Yeah. But I'm looking at studying abroad.
For that I think I should be supporting myself
to the greatest extend I can.

Plus, some fame isn't bad either. ;-)

The downside is that most of them charge fees to purchase them so you would lose some of your money, but I do believe some of them accept PayPal if you wanted to convert your PayPal balance into a credit card to pay bills.

Yeah. My first priority at this time is to use a
VCC. I have a couple of people to provide
me with the VCC's but again, I need to pay them.
For that, I can't use my existing PayPal funds.

Urrrggg... This seems like a vicious circle.:confused:

Well, as I said. I myself alone can't apply
for a CC. My dad has one, but I can't use it
          without his permission.

          That maybe viable but

          a) I don't do late night homework
          b) 53k is way above me

haha, just a joke but think about this...

if you have a couple of hundred in your account you really are off to a good start.

You only need to read through some of the other posts in the forum to find people talking about how they are ready to give up and they have been trying for years.

heck right now, I would do anything to have a few hundred in my paypal account.

Just keep doing what you are doing and keep scaling up and there is no reason you can't hit 50k.

I am still using PayPal. But I have some alternatives too like Alertpay, Moneybookers and Plimus.
I also started using Plimus on some of my product launches and getting the same conversions(Disc. Conversions depends on your traffic relationships too, So I am not sure you will get more or even less conversions by using Plimus).

Karan, do you even own a PAN card ?
If you have a PAN card and if you have like spare 20-25k you can get a Fixed deposit done. Based on that fixed deposit you will be given the credit card you need.

Most Indians banks need a PAN card if you want to own your a CC or find someone on whom you can trust (An Indian Guy with CC) pay that guy via bank account and tell him to pay off your bills via paypal.

I would rather suggest talk about this with your dad, if you are doing everything legal, your dad would be proud of you and he would allow you to use his credit card.

Also I got a separate savings account with this fixed deposit. I simply withdraw the money from my paypal to my savings account which takes 2-4 days. Then I transfer the funds from savings account to CC for any payments. For me the new paypal withdraw funds option works good. As it puts a bar on my spendings.

About how to handle your problem. Simply go tell your parents if that won't hurt. Then tell them, you need to create a bank account to withdraw funds. With the parent' signature you'll be able to open a bank account. Once you have your bank account, withdraw your money to the account and then simple apply for a fixed deposit credit card. In the mean time to make payments, ask your parents to allow you to make this one payment (maybe hosting).

      All success...

      Hey Spencer.

Thanks for the helpful post. But can I get a CC
under my name? I'm a minor, right?

Or will that be the one under parent's guidance?

But, I have already added my mom's bank account
to my PayPal as once earlier I had withdrawn some
money to her account. And I had told everything
      back then.

See, to go big (or scale things) you need higher value credit card. Now i will show you how to get AMEX Credit Card for limit of Rs.3,18,000 (exact) without any FD's.

      Form a Pvt Ltd Company:
First, Call 01122222222 (from Delhi, Justdial number) and ask for Charted Accountant in your area, then visit him and contact him to form company. It will cost you around Rs.20-25k to form a company with capital of 5lacs (don't worry about capital amount, you dont have to pay or maintain it)

      Apply for Company's PAN card:
Again, same CA will do it.

Now, with in 10-15 days you will have your MOA (Memorandum of Association and Company registration certificate, mailed at your address)

Next, apply for American express card from:http://www.americanexpress.co.in/
(They will charge Rs.5000 every year after your CC is approved)

LAST STEP: Now, just for a month you need to rent an office in good area (Will cost Rs.10-25k depending on your location), just pay for a month.

Now, when you apply for AMEX card, representative will meet you in office only and based on your company's PAN card, Company's registration certificate and Office location (NO ITR [Income Tax Return] needed), you will get CC starting from Rs.100k to MAX Rs.3.18lacs

Same way you will get credit card from every bank i.e HDFC, BarclayCard, HSBC, ICICI and Citibank.

Get netbanking from HDFC and ICICI and pay your immediate spend back to credit card so that it can be credited in 48hrs and you can continuously use your credit cards online.

This is all practical things i have shared.

      Thanks.
No offenses man, but that's just not what I'm
looking for. Maybe this is helpful to someone
      else.

      Thanks anyways for your input.

Hello Karen, I just checked with ICICI bank and this is what it says here, in this link...

ICICI Bank Credit Card- Eligibility & Fees, Apply Online for Credit Cards

" ICICI Bank Instant Gold/ Platinum Credit Card cannot be issued to minors. "

But I think you may be able to create a joined account with your father's signature and get an instant credit card. You may need to confirm this with your bank.

The best thing to do will be to go directly to ICICI bank / HDFC bank and tell them that you are a minor and need a credit card. Ask them what options they have... These banks also offer prepaid credit cards, which may be available to minors...

        Hope it helps...

LOL interesting thread... Especially the post by dark witness. Hmm I was in the same situation when I started with no credit card or bank account. But now I am 27. The only difference is that I told everything to my father.

But it's only two years back that I got my own credit card from ICICI bank. Had to deposit 20k and got a fixed deposit credit card. From the 20k I was allowed to withdraw and use up 75%.

Ok guys, i guess i need to share it.

    Thanks.

Ops I wish Karen is not having a heart attack reading that post... Forming Pvt Ltd companies, renting an office, with 20 to 25 lakhs...

      HELLO...

We are here dealing with a 17 year old, trying to withdraw his balance from paypal and to pay a few online payments (probably hosting and autoresponder).

Well, what i have shared applies to 17yrs old too and its nothing such as heart attack, it will take 15-20 days and 1-2 visits to charted accountant.

Whatever we should do in IM, needs to be systematic, Even if you earn 2lac per year, you need to file ITR.

I simply gave advice to systematize the IM business efforts, if you really think it is business.

Also, it's not 'just' about withdrawing money from paypal, you are bringing money in the country that is too under your PAN card info.

    UPDATE:

I talked to my dad last night, told him everything,
showed him my PayPal account, and blah blah..

His reaction? He handed me the bank account
and his CC happily, and didn't put even a single
    question.

Wow. The problem's solved and I learned a lesson:

Thanks You to everyone who replied and helped

Good job. Yup, it's rare that any youngster's parents wouldn't help them in this type of a situation. You're making money!

When I was underage and doing IM, my dad basically opened a separate bank account in his name for me, registered me a company name, credit card, the whole nine. I had free reign and everything was mine, only his name was on it due to age purposes. I went and got my own bank account the day I turned 18.

I don't think your post is of much help to me, as I don't have a Payoneer card.

          But still, thanks.

Hey guys, If you don't have a credit card why not go for a virtual credit card?
    www.entropay.com

Works perfectly with Paypal and for any other transaction.

    Hope this works! Good Luck

You can fund the entropay Virtual Credit card with your normal debit card with 3D secure code.
It worked for many people. Google it and you will find some success stories.

You can load the funds and use the virtual credit card.

I too can confirm that as of now Paypal is not locking down accounts
if we keep the funds there for more than 7 days.

But what's the latest on the $500 max per transaction rule?

Has anybody tried to receive more than $500 and see how it goes?

there are four way to get verified
      1. CC
      2. VCC
      3. Bank Account
      4. VBA

@jskarthik1 becareful with entropay .. paypal will limit your paypal

@theone85: i dont think so.. i do have 4 account paypayl ( my name.. my wife and my sons even they are 3y.o and 8 month ) 3 of them are fake but my paypal is real .. i think its so easy.. just transfer your money from fake paypal to real paypal.. WD it to bank account .. done !

paypal will never limit your account if your transaction is real.. i'm using all of my paypal to sell something on ebay.... i dont have any problem with it.
