How to get 125 visits from only one comment

Hi all,

Commenting is a great thing. It brings me more traffic than some of my guest articles.
So I'm here today to reveal the secret of getting 100+ visitors from one comment.

Once I've got 125 visitors from ProBlogger.net [The largest blog about blogging and making money online]. Here is how I did it:

1. I didn't spam. If you do, you wont get approved when the site's admin moderates the comments.

2. Comment on a high traffic blog with lots of subscribers. I commented on ProBlogger.net (171,000+ RSS subscribers and 120,000+ Twitter followers). I got 3 replies on it.

3. One of the most important things: Be the first or at least the fifth to comment. People don't read the 127th comment or so .

4. Comment on the most recent post. It's probably the most popular for that day or those days. Make sure to subscribe to the blog's RSS feed to know instantly about a new article.

Hope this helped.

Best Regards,
Akos

You're very right about that. To go even further: If you make a comment, obviously it needs to be relevant but MORE IMPORTANT it needs to stand out. By that I mean people are looking for answers to questions in their head. When you read the blog and are about to make a comment, think to yourself: "What would someone put as a response that would make me pay attention and follow that user's link or profile?" If you follow that simple rule and give people what they are probably looking for, you get traffic.

Don't waste your time spamming. I have many blogs and the amount of spammed comments I get and ignore is laughable. In my head, all I can think it some poor schmo paid money to these 'posters' thinking they're getting quality backlinks. Shame.

You are so right about being among the first 5 to comment, after this many folk will look for another post so you need to grab their attention with a response that has a very useful comment. I know a marketer who spends a huge amount of time commenting on blogs and gets targeted visitors to his own blog which in turn converts to leads and sales. It's a great way to get traffic if done properly (quality is the key here) and free too.

yeah! it is far better to get your comment there before any other person does.
Leaving a meaningful comment is the key.
Response to others question/request on your comment or others comment pin-point you.

I total agree, but one other tip; make your comment personal use that persons name and you are sure your comment gets publish and will not end in the spam folder.

On average, I imagine you could waste hours posting semi-nonsense or null content comments to blogs that never get read. Or being the 73rd comment.

You have to pick your spots. I've had visitors (and still get the odd one here and there) from comments on the blogs of a couple of high profile copywriters. Those comments were genuine contributions to the conversation; so were the rest of the comments that passed moderation.

        It depends.

If the page housing your comment is a PR0, or the avalable link juice is spread among 100 other comments, the backlink isn't worth much. If the scale is indeed logarythmic, as many experts say, then you need a heck of a lot of low-PR links to equal one high-PR link.

PR seems to be decreasing in influence as a ranking factor. About the highest use for it right now is in selling links to people who believe it's still important in and of itself.

There are two rules to follow when commenting on blogs:

    1. Be real; and

    2. Understand that your results will differ from the OP (for better or for worse).

alot of people think blog comments do not work. I have to say I disagree.

I think the fact taht I have done lots of testing with this, and I find that emotional responses get the best traffic.

So if you were on a blog and comment, you would really have to take empathy with that user and get in his or her head. People these days also want proof.

So these are the two things that will give you your best results.

    1) Use empathy towards the readers, and add value to what is already posted.

    2) Give proof and make them not only want to click the link, but curious also.

People hate spam these days, so dont just leave that whole "great post, here is my link" spammy type message. If you reward people, i think they are only more willing to reward you back.
