I Made my First Sale this Week!

Hello everyone, I just thought I'd announce my first sale: a whole $0.92 via Amazon!

It is the most proud $0.92 I have ever made, it's a breakthrough.

Does anyone know how to find out which website of mine it went through? As it wasn't a product I was actively promoting, but they went to amazon to buy it anyway.

Well done, keep going and more will follow.

On Amazon you can set up different tracking id's for your different sites, which allows you to track exactly where each sale is coming from. Hope that helps.

      Congrats!

While you're just getting started you should add an optin form to your site so that you can start building a list.

That sale is a good sign...

    Congrats!

You can set up a bunch of different tracking ids. What I usually do is make the tracking id the same as the website name -- that way when I get a sale I know exactly where it is coming from.

    Congrats on your first sale!!!

You need to set seperate user ids for each site.

That way you will always know which of your
sites produced a sale even if the product
purchased dont have anything to do with
    what you're promoting.

Congratulations! That first sale is so important. It's the sign that all things are possible, isn't it?

I didn't use Amazon tracking IDs until I'd been an associate for over a year. I just figured a sale was a sale. I finally went back and created unique tracking IDs for each site and now I have ton of data I can use to improve clickthroughs and conversion rates through testing.

Go to your Amazon associate dashboard and select Account Settings/Manage Tracking IDs. Create a new tracking ID. You can create some sort of shortened set of letters that will mean something to you and then you can see your associate reports for just that tracking ID. This allows you to monitor activity generated by a particular site, a particular page, or a particular kind of link (use one tracking ID for image links and one for text links, for example).

I believe you're only allowed to create so many IDs before you have to ask for more (100? I can't remember...) so plan accordingly.
