Question for Facebook Fan Page Creators

Hi Folks, I was wondering if those of you who create fan pages for clients offer free hosting or do you require your client to provide a domain and hosting?

Thanks in advance,
Tom

  • You'd always want to host this yourself. That way, you get a residual income.

Also, if you're looking to market to people who already have hosting and domains and understand those things, you're making it much harder on yourself than you need to.

      Hi Thom,
Are you saying that I should host them on my hosting account and just charge them a hosting fee?

      Thanks,
      Tom

Never messed with this stuff much as far as the hosting part. I will have to read up on the hosting part just created my fan page a week or so ago and have gotten no where with it as far as likes. How exactly do you get people to find your facebook fan page?

I have to say I am not exactly sure what you are talking about hosting for fan pages. I created my own fan page and it is part of Facebook. So how would you have that on your own hosting. Just curious. I have never heard of this.

Facebook offers the fanpage free of charge, but they do not offer a customized fanpage. You can take advantage of iframes and have a mini website display on a tab in your facebook fanpage. So, if you build a custom website and want it to show in facebook then you would host it on a domain in your hosting account.

Thank you, much appreciation. I was wondering about iframes. That also explains all the extra little pages that everyone has been coming up with. Thanks for clearing this up. Now I understand.

So if someone has hosting already where they have their site, why would they not make a subdomain to hold the new iframe pages and facebook fan page? That would make more since.

But I guess it would be harder for you to monetize that and it is harder for you to make changes if the client needs to add or take something away. That really is a good question you have there.

Makes me think of that new commercial that the guy keeps saying he is in a quandery. Have you thought about asking some of your best clients to see what would add more value to them. As I am sure that you would love their repeat business. I bet they would love to tell you how they would view it.

Just a thought. Of course I am always for building relationships with my customers, clients and readers.

  • Hi Tom, if you provide the entire service it makes for a more profitable sale.

From what angle do you ask? Do you provide services for clients?

Yes, I have been considering providing this service. I have created a few free ones and am hosting them on my server but what worries me is the fact that if something should happen to me all my clients would lose their page.
