Pay-per-click affiliate programs?

Hi guys,

I just signed up to this forum today. I have not done any affiliate marketing in more than 5 years. I'm starting to get back into them with Clickbank, etc.

I remember getting paid something like 10-20 cents each time someone clicks on my affiliate banner or link. Do these type of PPC programs still exist?

Most affiliate programs these days seem like you need to make a sale to earn money.

Would be greatly appreciated if you guys could enlighten me on this matter. I couldn't find anything regarding this on Google.

Thanks!

Sounds like your talking about the likes of Google Adsense, which pays website owners around 1/2 of the adwords advertisers PPC cost for clicks on text ads appearing on the site.
Most affiliate programs pay a sale percentage, which minimizes fraud.

More popular than 5 years ago are CPA (Cost per Action) ads that pay for leads, you get paid for people signing up for free samples, insurance quotes, etc. Since these are easier to fake, there is commonly an phone interview involved in qualifying for a CPA network.

There are many PPC providers, google adsense is definitely the best, just make sure your sites follow their terms and conditions. Other ones you can look at include Adbrite and Chitika. Infolinks on the right websites can work well, but in my experience google adsense is still the best
