Transfering hosting account/domain name

I have never transfered a hosting account or a domain name
to someone else so I don't know what's the common/easiest way
to do it.

What hosting provider and domains provider is best to use when
you are building sites that you are going to sell?

How is it all done? Is it complicated?

I think a Hostgator reseller account would work best for this.

I'm still on Dreamhost though which is usually not recommended by too many people. I haven't had any trouble but that's probably also because I've never had a super popular site.

I've transferred sites to another company and basically just reuploaded my material to the new server. Then go through the steps for the domain transfer and make sure the dns points to the new server too.

Another good place that handles domain transfers is GoDaddy.com.
As far as I'm concerned, they are the tops.
Do to the nature of my niche, I buy a lot of domain names for
      my resell products.
I have also done many domain name transfers over the years
and They have always got the job done quickly.

      Good Luck.

        Thank you for your suggestions.

So I don't have to transfer the hosting account,
just delivere all the files to new owner, and then
        transfer the domain name.

exactly, just make sure the person who is receiving the files knows what to do with them

sending someone a zipped database may scare them, on the other hand it would be fine sending it to me.

you could also ask for their login and upload and set it up on their server for them

  • domains are easy to transfer, just hit "change account holder" or similair in your admin

hosting is not easy to transfer, the only way I know to do it is if you are in control, ie get a reseller account

or you could just download all your files and databases and give them to the new owner
