I need Help In Choosing My Domain For My 1st Product

I am writing a how to guide.I wanted to know do i need to have a how to domain name also to rank high and be seen when someone types how to etc in search engine?

I figured the title of my guide should be the domain name, however I have read articles saying the shorter the name the better.I never knew it would be this complicated launching a product.Maybe i am making it more complex than it needs to be.

I would appreciate any help someone could provide.

Thanks,Len

You're making it more complicated than it needs to be. Just think of a creative name that describes your product well and use that.

What's the title of your product? I think it's good to have the domain name and the title the same.

Unless your product name is lack-luster...then improve on the product's name.

I guess, without knowing the title of your product, it would be hard to answer your question.

And, then of course, you could make it the same, only different.

    I hope this has helped.

"I can" is much more important than I.Q.

I know that you don't want to use hyphens (www.your-site.com) because people would forget or just not type in the hypen and then you've lost that one. Also don't make it so long that it runs together and can't be read easily. a good place to check for domain name ideas is DomainsBot - Available domain suggestions, name spinner, expired and expiring domain name search And one more thing no numbers because they may look cool but they are easy for you to remember but others might not. Good luck

Think about the keywords used in your product and have a look around at the aftermarket sites such as Sedo and Afternic. As long as its memorable, no hyphens and easy to type, you shouldn't have a problem.

    Hi,

If you plan to market your how to guide through Pay-per-Click marketing then it is important to have short domain due to the display address. Otherwise, don't worry - make the domain easy readable and understandable.

    Good luck with the launch!

    Ya,recently I launched a new product/report.The report reveals 5 psychological and persuasion triggers.So I name my it "5 triggers".Then I registered the domain "5 triggers.com".Easy huh?
Just register a domain that has the same name with your products.

A 6-letter word domain? Is it .com? If so, that's a pretty decent find you have there! Although, I guess it really all depends on what your product is, and (as someone has said before in this thread) what sort of promotion you are going to focus on. If you're primarily going to sell your product with affiliates or PPC, I would say snatch up the domain. If you want people to find your product by coming up in search engine results, you may want to go with a more descriptive domain name.

Short domain that best describes your product. I would avoid the domain_name.com names also.

    Len,

Its an important things to associate your product with your domain name as being the same. Even if it affiliate of Seo inclined.

This will help search engines. For eample, A product on How To Make Money Flipping Website has its domain as http://www.makemoneyflippingwebsite.com and this brings in traffic.

Let it be the name of your product

    Hey Real deal

Thats what i though but i see in your example they cut off the "how to"

So would it be better also if i cut off the how to on my name and title of book?

Yes cowboyrob it is a .com name.

I want to show up in searches and promote the item through affiliates.

I had come up with the perfect title but lo and behold someone else had already beat me to it,they named their book the exact title. So i said to myself if i choose that now i may bring traffic to my competitor.

But the 6 word name seems a little excessive i could take out the "how 'to" begining, but then what if someone types in their search engine how to etc etc.

You see what im saying? If i use the actual words they would type as my domain and my book tittle, it seems to me i would come up first,or at the least,on the first page, but maybe im wrong in thinking this.

I appreciate all your help and comments.I need to get this done soon as my webmaster and mentor has been waiting for some time.

    Thanks again,

Take the main keyword of your site and go to justdropped.com you can search for domains which have been dropped by previous owners and you can come up with some real good domains. Then register whatever you find with your regular host - the benefit is that most search engines take the age of a domain into account, and it may already have lots of established links already in place.
