How do you handle selling an affiliate site?

I searched but couldn't find anything on this, although I'm 100% sure it has been discussed many times. If anyone could direct me to an existing thread or answer in this one, I'd appreciate it.

If you sell an affiliate site, how do you handle the affiliate links? Do you leave your own in and the buyer has to change it to their own ID, or is that stupid? My intention is to sell a couple sites that I have only put a little work into and decided I'm not interested in developing further. So should I strip out the affiliate links and just leave the content?

Edited to say that it's beddy-bye time and will have to visit this thread again in the morning, so I will be scarce for a few hours. Thanks to anyone who can give me some direction.

Just wondering if anyone has any pointers for me. I've been searching through sites at Flippa to see how others handle it, but I can't find any specifics.

    Hi Laura,

It depends what affiliate links you have.
Some sites have rules about this, some don't.

I believe there is some legal BS burried away in the Clickbank TOS
that said something about selling your accounts.

    I would just do that....

Sell the clickbank ( or whatever ) account with the site.

Unless that account also contains links that you want to keep that are making sales.

In this case, you will have to strip your links.

What you can do, is use software to strip, or even replace clickbank ID's
in a webpage while it's offline, then re-upload it.

So, you could infact make that a BONUS to your deal !

say " I will install YOUR clickbank ID into all the links ! "

Then use software to replace the ID's upon sale, and reupload the pages.

I use " Grep-Win " for jobs like that. Wicked little tool. You can find it online for free.

Let me know if you need help finding it in google.

    cheers

Thanks for replying! These will be mostly Amazon affiliate links, but that sounds like a good way to handle it. Didn't think about making that a bonus, good idea. Thanks again!
