Whats The Best way To Approach Warriors For Reviews?

Hi guys

I am going to launch my first WSO within a couple of weeks. Ok I am not that well known on the forum although I do try to contribute when possible.

I am hoping to get some honest reviews for my software before offering it on here. Obviously the more experienced and well known the warrior who reviews the software could make a difference.

However I do not wish to offend anyone by sending unsolicited PM's to people who do not know me so is it better to post a thread asking for people to review it.

Is it better to ask for war room members with x number of posts only to review the product?

Saying that I do want some of the newer members to review the software so they can give their opinion on ease of use etc.

So should I just make a general post and pick and choose who reviews or will this cause problems by people saying I asked for a review first etc. I just don't want to upset anyone because I did not give them the opportunity to review the software.

Advice appreciated

Anton

    Hi Anton,

Just wondering if you'd found this thread?

There are quite a few comments in there on this exact subject, which might help you.

I don't guarantee to be right, here, but I believe that starting a thread to ask for "review comments" isn't allowed.

And I'm afraid it gets worse: some people you don't actually know yourself, who have high post-counts or whatever, may not necessarily take too kindly to being asked out of the blue to "review a product" (because they get asked all the time, regardless of the subject-matter of the products).

The best answer is perhaps to try to get to know a lot of people.

The best way to approach a Warrior for reviews is...
NOT to approach them for reviews in the first instance
      - especially the more well known Warriors.

Remember that if you're asking them to review your
software, it will take them time. If they go on to
recommend your software, they'll also be putting their
      reputation on the line.

Instead, I'd recommend that you 'dig your well BEFORE
      you're thirsty.'

So, identify the key Warrirors you'd like to eventually
ask to review your software. Then, instead of asking
what they can do for you, ask what you can do for
      them.

How can you add value to them FIRST?

Then begin to build the relationship and if it feels right,
then ask them to review your software.

But getting asked for a review of the bat from some yahoo
you've never heard of is not the best way to begin a
      relationship IMO.

        Hi thanks for this Shaun

I am glad I posted this question here first.

I have other people I have built a relationship with other than those on this forum that I can ask for reviews so maybe I will start with these.

I am looking to get my wso up and running in a couple of weeks so I will not have the time to build relationships with warriors as I know I cannot build genuine trust within a fortnight.

Hopefully if people take me up on the WSO the reviews will start to come in

Bad idea. The life expectancy of a thread like that will be equivelent to the duration of afterglow experienced by a male black widow spider just after mating.

    Know what I mean?

Are you a member of the War Room yet? You'll need to be anyway...You can offer a free copy there and respectfully ask that they review your WSO with an honest opinion/review. That way you're not giving it away for "positive reviews" which most established people wouldn't go for anyway.

I just gave a guy an "honest" review. It was the first time I'd been asked and was honored with the request! I can imagine if I had a high post count and received 50 of those requests a day it would be irritating, though. I saw that someone from here actually had a Fiverr gig where he offers to actually get back to your PM about a WSO and "at least take a look at it" or something like that, lol.

Before your product is released I would get "beta testers" on board. These are people that can not only give advice to perfect your product but once it hits the ready to go point will usually drop a line about it if you ask nicely

Definitely focus on building relationships first, period.

If you contact me out of the blue and ask for a review, chances are I will just hit delete. However, if you are my friend, I will give you real attention.

I get requests to do reviews all the time -- several per week, most from people I do not know.

I used to be grateful for the opportunity to help a newbie launch a new product. But 95% of what lands in my PM box asking if I could "please review my new product" have been worthy as nothing more than toilet paper.

The first few times, I tried to offer constructive criticism to improve the product, but in every case, constructive criticism to strangers asking for reviews have been met with either ugly comments or argumentative responses.

Having paid the price of "time sink" with no recompense, strangers are lucky to get my time now.

Yes, you can, now. (You have to pay $5).

That's changed since this thread started, in May. Thanks for updating it.
