Building a Clickbank Site: Why keyword research is not enough

I got a customer who complains that he is not earning although his site is on top 5 of google and having a domain keyword of 3,000 exact search a month. The domain is closely similar to the product's domain he is promoting. He registered the domain before hiring my team to do the site installation, content, and SEO. Now he is complaining why the site is not earning.

Here's my explanation.

I set tinnitusmiracle.com as an example (no offense to the owner and affiliates)

"tinnitus miracle" has 9,900 exact searches a month but my question is, "Is this a good keyword to use as domain"? I told him NO. Why? Who are those people typing "tinnitus miracle" on Google? Are the people searching the exact term the same people who have ringing ears problem? I don't think so. I think 50% of the people who search this keyword on google are internet marketers, others are competitors, others are people who learned about this product through word of mouth, and etc - not buyers. I don't think people who really have ringing ears problems will search for the exact keyword. For a casual person who got ringing ears, the first time he land his fingers on keyboard would type "tinnitus treatment" or "tinnitus cure" and not "tinnitus miracle". See the difference?

tinnitus miracle - 9,900 searches
tinnitus treatment - 18,100 searches

I told him if I were to promote this product, I would pick the second domain based on what I explained to him above and he agreed. it's always the buyer keyword that makes the difference and not the branded keyword for casual visitors. I experienced the same problem the first time I created a website for pregnancy miracle - the exact same thing happened and I switched to another domain and got good result.

Keyword research sometimes is deceiving if you don't know what you are doing. You must always consider the type of people looking for such keywords.

Just a short share...
