I am making an autoblog for a friend.

He is investing, 17 in the autoblog theme and plugin, 7 for domain, and 0.01 for the website hosting. (first month)

I plan on getting a small advertising package from a warrior, (25 bucks or something) to kick start his autoblog.

What $$ results should he expect? It's the Weight Loss niche.

He is going to use clickbank, amazon, and adsense.

I know there is no 'true' answer, but a shot in the dark would be helpful.

Thanks warriors.

I'm afraid no one can give you a shot in the dark answer to
that. Not even possible, and anything anyone says could be
completely off-base since nothing is known, to us, about the
    specifics of the situation.

If you are building an autoblog, is it scraping content or feeds
from other sites? Or is it more of an auto-poster setup with
    your own content?

If you're scraping content, he can get sued for copyright
infringement - possibly. Were you aware of that?

I have a few friends in another forum that just got ALL their sites de-indexed, and they were auto-blogs.

      It'll be feeds I believe.

It's still in pre-production. But I just would like to know some experiences warriors have had on the topic?

If it helps, I've read of experiences, in this forum, that are all over the place. Some
have had their sites drop off the radar map. Others say they use techniques that
        give them success.

Someone posted a week or two ago and said he was being sued, or something to
        that effect.

        All over the place.

I made a few autoblogs that did rank ok for their primary keywords but eventually got delisted after the google panda/farmer update.

So take from that what you will

Somewhere between zero and 6-figures or so.

It really depends upon whether he's interested in building a business or just buying a lottery ticket.

I would strongly suggest spending another $15 or so and getting 2-3 original articles written. Or he could write them himself. Or rewrite PLR.

It is very hard to get any traction with an entire site of duplicate content. But a bit of original content, with the feeds mixed in, can work wonders.

If his autoblog plugin will post Youtube videos, definitely do that as well. Or post some by hand if not.

Consider setting up a twitter account and following people who demonstrate an interest in weight loss. Then use something like Twitter Tools to tweet posts automatically.

      Autoblogging is a tricky game.

Oh, as for expected revenue, there's about a 98% chance that it will be very close to $0. That doesn't mean that it's impossible to make money, just you have to be better at autoblogging than 98% of the people who try it. Which isn't as hard as it sounds, since most autobloggers do a horrible job.

For me, the figures can only be between zero and... well, 1. It's very unlikely with the situation at hand. Using auto blog can be dangerous for your ranking.

I did get a couple of bucks from adsense clicks and now to my suprise 25.00 from amazon from someone buying a laptop ( begginners luck I guess) I was actually Just planning to use the platform and actually looking to put real original content on there as soon as I tweek the look and feel of the blog to my likeing.

This is very good advice, especially for someone who is just starting out with autoblogging.

If you aren't an experienced autoblogger (meaning you haven't learned through doing) then I would suggest you start out by having a decent mix of unique content and auto content. It's also a good idea to mix the types of content as well. A good post could consist of a unique article with your friends own opinions and thoughts about the scraped content, a related YouTube video, a few related Yahoo Answers, possibly some related news feeds an Amazon product with some information about it and how it relates to the subject of the other content.

If the autoblogging software your using allows you to review the content prior to posting that would be best as well. This will help ensure that only quality content is posted to the site. If it doesnt allow this then it would be a good idea to regularly check the blog and delete poorly written content.

As for my own experience, my autoblogs have seen an increase in traffic and sales since the Google update. I've heard more instances of this happening than of autoblogs being deindexed or worse but I imagine this depends entirely on the quality of the blog in question.

If you and your friend concentrate on building a quality autoblog, only use auto content from approved sources, leave all links in the content to the original source and strive to build a blog that people will want to read (rather than a crappy spammy site) then you should be fine. Don't forget to test and tweak things as you go to learn what works best.

        Good luck!

Hmm... I think this says it all. Auto blogs are considered to be a black hat techniques. It's illegal.

Well, autoblogging itself isn't illegal. I mean, what are sites like Google News but giant autoblogs? But autobloggers tend to use content that they don't have permission to use, which can be illegal, and can get you sued. Google "Righthaven Lawsuits."

Autoblogging is ok, as long as you are adding UNIQUE content to it. It you are autoblogging and using other ppl's content, the search engines will know. Add 2-4 unique posts a day over top of your autoblogged posts
