What the heck is really is going on in the IM world????

While the "I" in IM may stand for information there is, surprisingly, very little objective information available about what is going on in the IM world.

      Yeah I struggled with this post because on the one hand we do need baseline data and we do need some comments and suggestions on a new concept. How do you get feedback without sounding self-promoting?

      Just answering my own question probably should have posted in a different area.

        Simply ask your specific, straight to the point question, just like you were in a live chatroom with live humans...

        No need to write a copy-novel to ask for suggestions/constructive critiques on your website. After reading your entire post, I'm still a bit unsure of what specific feedback you are looking for...

        Just tell us whacha need and what to look at for feedback.

        (P.S. It's very helpful to be specific in what type of feedback you are looking for... graphics/copy/general ideas/etc...)

          Hi Jared, clarity is not one of my strong points ... spent too long writing code rather than words...

          Basically, I'd like people to try our online opportunity survey AND then check the results to see if the presentation format makes sense and is useful.

          Is that any clearer?

            What Wags is trying to say is you dont want to self promote here. Most here would look down on it and it does not come across too well. I mean, If I were to post something here like... I dont know... something like...

            I'm a very successful marketer... reaching as high as a million per year... live in a big fancy house... have my own kick ass office in the hill country... have the best products known to man... am damn good looking... can jack home runs still at the age of 37... can snowboard like a maniac.... am living the good life... am a cool guy that everyone likes... check out my sites... my sig... etc etc etc

            Now, that would be self promoting.

      Hi Geomat,

      1) the site 'navigation' is a bit confusing. I wasn't sure what to do so I signed up.

      2) after email confirmation, it tells me to log in but does this on a page that (appears to) have no log in link

      (all simple stuff I know and I am capable of overcoming these little things, but I'm sure you know the golden rules of design IE - 'Don't make me think')

      3) logged in, clicked the 'surveys' link, read the spiel, took note that you probably should hyperlink the word 'online opportunities survey' within the text itself (currently just in italics) therefore I had to search around to find the link in the left navigation. (Note- give as many opportunities as possible to get the person where you want them to go - IE - use hyperlinks within the text they are reading)

      4) Clicked the 'online opportunities survey' link on the left. Read more spiel.

      I expected to be directed to a survey (questions with multiple choices and radio buttons) but it's now saying -

      A good way to start is to check out the Demo Charts and Tutorial for a brief overview of how the surveys work.
      Even though I'm patient, at this point I lose patience thinking 'Just take me to the damn survey!'

      Clicked the link to 'demo charts.'

      I think the bar charts are fine except the use of the colours to signify newbie etc is totally confusing because you are trying to put too much info into one chart. Therefore I recommend having some other way of demonstrating the 'experience level' of the surveyed - even if it meant having seperate charts for each level.

      Still trying to understand the difference between the first chart and the 'your network' chart.

      Two clicks to log out - why not one?

    I know you said in your original post that you were new to this forum, which is EXACTLY why you should have looked around for awhile before posting something like this - then taking the site down.

    For some constructive comments (I can't evaluate the site because it's not up) since the site isn't up at this point, at least put a promo page in its place giving me reasons why I want to follow this. And how can I give you my username and password if I've never been to the site?

    You'd be better served by giving me a compelling reason to leave my name so you could continue to market to me about the product launch, etc.

    And "this initiative will set the net on fire!" Really - who's your marketing team?

    To be a little direct - it would be fair to the forum for you to open a support ticket to the admin to just have this post deleted...
