Amazon Links Confusing me - Help Would be Appreciated!

Hey WF, just been working on my first amazon review site and im having a bit of difficulty.

When I go to create a link to the product i want to promote it gives me it in HTML format. Then when i go to highlight the text i want to put my affiliate link in , i paste it in and click ok. BUT because its HTML code it does not work. Im using wordpress and was wondering if anyone could tell me how to do this :S.

Also, when I go to create a Custom Amazon Link i.e I get to pick the text, if i right click and click "copy link location" is that still my Affiliate link?

Sorry if this seems stupid, its just confusing me!

Thanks

I don't use WordPress, but you need to be in html mode and paste the code there for it to work.

Can you not have your Amazon affiliate code as an actual LINK rather than a HTML code.. HTML confuses the hell out of me!

I suggest you take 30 mins to an hour to learn exactly what you are doing with HTML. This way in case something gets messed up, you are able to correct it.

Yes the "copy link location" is your link. If you log into your affiliate account first, there should be a "link to this page" tab on the top, use the text link and "right" click on it.

Use the code you copied in the "Visual" screen (not HTML). Highlight the text or image, click on the link icon and paste the code into the popup that appears.

You can, just copy the actual link from the HTML code, the one that says http://longamazonaffiliatelinkhere.com. Normally it'll be something like

      <a href="http://longamazonaffiliatelinkhere.com">text here</a>

You want to copy the entire link after href=", no quotes, just the link in between the quotes.

The only thing you need from all that HTML code is the actual hyperlink, you don't need the rest of the HTML if you don't want to use it.

You can use the HTML in Wordpress though. What you're probably doing wrong is pasting it in the 'Visual' editor, you need to click 'HTML' next to 'Visual' (when creating a post or page) and paste the code there, then it will work fine.

Think i've got it anyway. INSIDE the HTML code there is a URL Link which is your affiliate link.
