list building advice?

Hi,

I'm relatively new to list building...does anyone have any tips for someone (me) who doesn't have a huge list already?

In other words, since my list is roughly at 300, it is hard to find people willing to do adswaps (at least until my list gets bigger).

I will do PPC if I must but would rather not. I'm already paying for Getsubscribers. This works fairly well but it's a slow, steady trickle, 1 or 2/day.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated, thanks!

If you can afford PPC, I would keep it going. It will always generate traffic if your ads and opt-in page are good. It will be targeted traffic and subscribers as well.

Also, maybe find a couple high traffic forums that relate to your niche and become a very active member. Having a link to your squeeze page in your sig will also send traffic your way. If people find your posts helpful, they will gain trust and respect with you and in turn want to see what you're all about.

    Hope that helps some.

Create a PDF with good looking eCover then participate in JV Give Away Events. If not, go to Elance and pay $50 to create 30- 50 graphics you can give away at the same events (create eCover for this too).

When you join these JV give aways, upgrade with OTO ($17-$27) and have your gift exhibited throughout the event. Once your gift is upgraded, even if your referral doesn't get added up, they'll keep your gift for you just because you're now a "paid" participant. I don't know any giveaway where you upgraded but would delete your gift because you don't bring in enough referrals.

Good giveaway should yield 50-100 sign ups during the first week. Traffic dies down after the first few days, but I find it cost effective way to build targeted lists.

I would just keep doing what you're doing, but I would focus more on creating one way links without having to give someone a link back instead of doing ad swaps and reciprocal links.

    Hi Jordan,

I started off with a list of less than 300...and you can definitely find people with list of the same size to do ad swap.

Then, slowly build your list. =)

If their lists are bigger than yours, just blast out more than one email for them to top up the difference.

    Cheers,
    John

Pal, the first thing you should do is to have your own affiliate program so that your existing subscribers can send more traffic to you. This means you should start selling your own product. If you have this 'system' set up, you will see your traffic grow exponentially. Without this system in place, your traffic generation effort will be solely dependent on you.

Next, you should advertise in as many sources as possible to build your initial list so that the viral effect can take place.

It all depends on your target audience.

Freebies are always a good way to get people to sign up and download.

I also suggest Twitter, so you can get followers (almost like subscribers) to follow your tweets.

Check out my sig, too. You can download my free ebook on building a list. Of course, you'll have to sign up to download it.

    Hi Jordan,

Here's my suggestion: provide a free-giveaway incentive of great value in exchange for joining your list.

Give away something of great value, and show a small sample of that great value for free before signing up for your list.
