TabletUpdate.com Domain Appraisal

Dear Warriors,

I have just bought TabletUpdate.com on an expired domain bid (the domain is 6 years old). I guessed that with all the hype about tablets, it should be an interesting domain for a specialized site, and I also think that the interest will likely grow in the coming years.

Can you please give me your opinion on the potential value of the domain?

    The domain itself is really only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

    To get an estimate of what it might sell for, look for similar domains that have sold recently. For example, it looks like tableoutlook.com sold for $495 in 2009.

    You might increase its value by building a worthwhile site on it, generating traffic and monetizing it. Then, you could potentially sell the domain name attached to an income generated website.

    As soon as I saw the domain name I immediately thought, either a) information about how to update your tablet or b) a news site dedicated to tablets. I would build a site and optimize, but I'm sure some experienced domain flippers will be along shortly to advise.

    With 12 monthly searches, you'll have to do lots of work.

    I know that it's hard to sell a domain with no monetized website attached. The problem is I really don't have the time and experience necessary to engage in such a project. I am thinking to just sell the domain as it is.

    2009 and 2011 is both two different era in which tablet is more a reality today then it was back then. We knew tablet as a papered school book but today its an electronic device that stores your homework and much more.

    As is I think $xx or maybe $xxx but if developed then it could go upward to $x,xxx depending on content and how well it is developed it could go into the $xx,xxx but once again its how creative you can get that decides the amount you can get.

    I'd say keep it and develop. Do a review site for updates on each company that creates a tablet. I have a few of my own as well.

    I would put up a blog and churn out some excellent tablet reviews, then build links to each review. Monetize with Amazon. You could be making $$$ within 3 months.
