Which is Better to Make Money? Being an affiliate or selling your own products (or PLR products)?

What do you think? What is your experience?

One of the easiest ways to make money right away is to start with PLR, a sueeze page and a forum like this to market into. An hour later you have sales.

But how about both? You know the old saying, "Cash flow is King". How about "Cash flow from Multiple revenue streams is King"

having sales after an hour later? Wow, very interesting. But doesn't it depends on what niche you selected?

I think it is up to you.

What type of work do you want to do?

if you have a killer product idea, go for it. You can get tons of affiliates to promote for you!

if you have a big list(of buyers!) then you have multiple offers to promote to earn!

plr products can bring some sales, i've always had better luck selling my own product or service though. build a list and sell a series of related products and you have a winner

If you have a good product idea you can use the PLR to accompany that but there is no point in mashing together loads of PLR and making a product that people are going to request a refund on.
Same with affiliate make sure you purcahse the product and are fully behind it before starting to promote it. Affiliiate is easier and quicker to get started but your own product will generate more direct income for you
I think you should do some research to discover what would be right for you at this time.
    Hope that heips

I think for someone who is just getting started, affiliate is the way to go. I think that by starting off as an affiliate you learn some best practices of list building, driving traffic and getting sales without having to develop your own product. Then you can take what you've learned and apply it to your own product. Plus, if you are proven to make sales as an affiliate it will give you credibility when you need affiliates to support your product.

When I hear product I usually think of something physical that may take manufacturing or at least importing from China.

If any of you have tried this or at least studied some of the skills required from all the licensing issues, liabilities, staff issues etc, I think this is why so many people think that affiliate marketing and the like is the easy option. but with this, there are huge numbers of competition too - look inside of this forum or the hundreds like it.

I am starting to think that a combination of a high ranking site and someone else's product that you have a personal relationship with might be the best of both worlds. I think that while physical products can be a hassle, unless they are a complete commodity, that you can gain a real identifiable edge that your clients will value, more than trying to trade on information and a few cents from click throughs only.

Though I assume that many people in here who have discovered the secrets of automation will swear differently.

Creating your own product is definitely the way to go. The problem with being an affiliate is if the offer goes away, or the seller closes their doors, you might be left with a bill for paid traffic and no money for that month.

I got into a dispute not long ago with a CPA company and they shut me off. Thus the product I had built a website for and was sending paid traffic to, is now needing modification along with changing all my redirect links.

Luckily I ALWAYS use one of my blogs to redirect links through in case of such an emergency.

Good luck and let us know what you decide to do.

good answers. i started out as an affiliate. in fact, for quite some time i re-sold services here on this very forum. found a solid provider of a IM related service, got a discount, and resold for a good price. one thing about IM is you have to over deliver a solid product in the niche, and even then, there will be refunds. you can have the most solid product in the world and people will request a refund.

I already sell a few PLR products.

Maybe I should do affiliate marketing as well, make profits from both, but I'm not exited at all to be an affiliate...

I sell both my own products and affiliate products. I definitely see more money coming from the sale of my own products.

I agree with the others - why not sell a combination?

I have always found it best to use a combination of the two, having your own product can help you sell affiliate products a lot easier.

In almost all of my products I recommend offers as an affiliate. there's really no need to cut off an income stream and do just one or the other.

when done right doing both can be easier than when doing it separately.

I think selling your own products because you can get other people to sell them for you.
You can get hundreds of people to sell them for you but you can't do that when you work for yourself.

    Hi,
It`s your own choice. You can earn by both of the ways. But if we discuss it generally than PLR is good option as compare to personal business plan.

I do both, but I lean more towards selling my own products, in my IMHO I think when you sell your own products it helps with building that connection with your list

PLR selling is not a good idea. Most of buyers will ask for refunds. You better to spend time to make a product and sell. It's a long time method even you get less sales at the beginning.

My point of view is simple,
you first have to know your
    strength and weakness,
expand on areas that you are
strong with, and try to avoid
areas that you are weak with.
E.g. if you are very creative,
    than i suggest you create
    your own products.
If you are a good copier,
then find a good mentor and
    replicate his/her methods.
    I hope these helps...

I think that selling both affiliate and making your own products are the way to go. And if you look at alot of the big names they do this alot. Heck most of them sell some sort of affiliate product from their own products. And why shouldn't you, you have done all the work and research and your product is solving a problem for your customer.

Anyway, I would use the PLR just as references for what it good and what to write and talk about. They could be very helpful in informing your market.

I like affiliate marketing when a person first starts out. A good niche affiliate program provides everything you need to get started.

As you learn Internet marketing skills then branch into selling your own products. PLR products that are customized is a great way to keep 100% of the profits on everything you sell.

Multiple streams of income is a good concept online today. Why limit yourself when you can automate so much of your business and spend your time making more money both as an affiliate and creating and selling your own stuff.

Selling your own products can be a little frustrating, affiliate on the other hand is very rewarding because your basically getting paid to promote someone else's product, doesnt require as much input.

        Hi

As a beginner and with limited funds i wouldn't suggest starting off with making your own product here is why: Creating a product requires more money and more time, you cannot possibly do every task for the product/ebook yourself. You would need to outsource a lot of it out and that requires more money.

Being an affiliate is somehow easier, buy you gotta know what product, niche you need to go into with a hungry crowd.

Some people might disagree but i spend a whole chunk of my cash creating a product first.
But do what works for you and what you want to do.

        Good luck with everything though

Thank you everyone for your suggestions!

I think I have kind of a prejudice against being an affiliate myself, probably without any reason.

But I like the idea of making money from several sources.

I heard it's best to create your own product because you can keep all of the sales for yourself. Also, with being an affiliate, it's not always very easy to find an offer that converts with a low refund rate.

I agree that if you have a good product (for ex: would you buy your product?) and you have a lot of knowledge on the product then I recommend you sell that product. As most of these forums will show you, there are incredible people here with amazing techniques on how to get the right prospects in front of your products so the product will basically sell itself.

    Hope this helped,

It really depends in how invested you are into your blog/site. If you are just doing it to earn some extra cash while writing about your passion then go with affiliate products that are reliable and relevant to your subject. However, if you are looking to make some serious cash, can invest a lot of time into your blog/site, and have extreme expertise and the ability to create a quality product and market it I would so focus your efforts on that.
