Scambots stalking craigs list?

I posted a couple items on craigslist for sale locally and immediately I got three emails asking "is this item still available" or something similar...

One email said "item is still available." which I thought was funny.

Spammer or nigerian scammers must be running some sort of spam bot on craigs list phishing for respondents.

I posted to my listing that I would not respond to any anonymous emails that did not contain name and phone number, I will only sell the items for local delivery or pickup, and I will not respond to any anonymous emails asking if the item is still available because I will delete the ad when it is sold.

I can only imagine the amount of people getting scammed on craigs list.

Same thing happened to us Josh. We had a number of the same type emails and had to do the "no response unless you include contact info."

I bet you guys have some snow up in Idaho huh - heck it's cold here in Florida and our summer house in Washington is buried under 13 inches of the white stuff!

Lots of things put up there for more than a $100 or so
seem to get picked up... especially musician equipment.

Sometimes when I remember I just put my phone number
there and take out the email thing. That stops the
scammers and more frivolous email inquiries.
