Default Twitter followers versus subscriber count

I asked on twitter which my followers had more of, subscribers or twitter followers.

In that case overwhelmingly they had more twitter followers than subscribers, but I am guessing you guys are the other way round?

Personally I have double the blog subscribers and most of my lists are bigger than my follower count, but most of the people I see on Twitter either have a bigger audience on twitter or their twitter audience is growing at a faster rate.

I have a theory about all this but I wanted to double check with you guys

If my Twitter follower count was higher than my list(s) subscriber count.. I'd be VERY worried about what I was doing with my time..

I have almost 2.5K Twitter followers.. if my lists were below this.. I'd stop using Twitter and get something done..

Peace

Twitter followers can be misleading. I could follow 2,ooo twitters in hope that they follow me back. Those that follow me randomly have no significant value to me. Those that have subscribed to my blog or my email list, now thats a different story. If I had more twitter followers than i'd be worried.

The thing is, most of the people I see on Twitter are in exactly that situation!

I guarantee that's what most people do. They think by following people, those people will automatically follow them. I don't follow people unless I'm truly interested in what they have to say. I feel like it is true that random followers have little to no value. There can always be an exception, that's why I added the little.

Atleast when people sign up for your blog or email list they've had a reason to do so. You've drawn them in with content or an offer. I don't put much into Twitter but I feel like it's too intriguing of an idea to give up.
