5 Ways To Increase Targeted Traffic To Your Website

Hello Joshua here!

In this thread I want to cover a few ways that I drive traffic to my website. Now I am a big fan of generating more quality highly targeted traffic then more quantity traffic that does not convert.

A few strategies I use to drive traffic are

1. Blog Commenting

Simply sign up for RSS feeds to authority blogs in your niche and as soon as new content is posted be sure to be one of this first to submit a comment that adds value to the post.

I personally use Google alerts to receive instant alerts via email whenever an authority blog publishes new content.

You want to try to be one of the first three people to submit a comment so that your comment is displayed at the very top directly underneath the end of the post. This will give your comment the greatest exposure possible.

Another tip is sign up for a FREE account at Gravatar.com. This service allows you to tie an image to a specific email address. This means that every time you submit a comment to a blog it will ask you for your name, email address, and website once you have your gravatar set up your picture will appear as soon as you hit submit.

This gives you an edge over those who do not have their picture and can help you get more attention to your comment.

For a step by step walk through on setting up your gravatar view my “ How To Get A Gravatar For WordPress” post.

Some of you may be wondering exactly how you get traffic to your site by submitting comments on other blogs. Well when you first do this you will notice there is a section to insert your name, email, website, and then a section for your comment.

So the fact that you are entering your website will make your display name into a clickable link.

2. Video Marketing

Create Videos teaching people how to do something or a commercial about your business and submit to all the video sharing sites like YouTube, Vimeo etc.

Proper Keyword Research is HUGE when submitting your videos to video sharing sites especially YouTube. YouTube is owned by Google so when people run a search for a specific keyword in Google and you have your video properly optimized it may show up in the first page of Google. You will want to include your keyword in the title, description and the tags.

You also want to include your squeeze page URL at the very top of the description area and mention your website in your video to drive people back to your squeeze page.

3. Facebook

I get quite a bit of traffic from Facebook. I take advantage of the three methods below to get traffic to my website.

Personal Profile:

I connect with new people on a weekly basis. As soon as a new person accepts my friend request they get sent a message where I introduce myself and I engage them in a conversation.

I take 2 minutes and I read through their info section , visit their website, like their fanpage and view anything else they have on their profile and mention something about it in the message to show them that I took time to really connect with them.

Now the beauty is in the end because I sign the message with my website. So picture that…someone gets a personal message from me talking only about them and what

I found out by looking through their info with a link to my site at the end. Do you think they now feel compelled to view my website? Definitely! Now not all will but the good majority will.

I sometimes take it a bit further and share their blog on my page and encourage my friends to check it out while tagging them in the post as well. This really gets their attention and they feel the need to reciprocate.

Remember Facebook is a Social Networking site. No one joins Facebook to be sold something so connect with people, help them, provide value, and watch how they start becoming lifelong fans of your work.

Facebook Groups:

Search for groups in your niche and add value to the group. Interact, Connect, Share Your Knowledge just like I mentioned before. The last thing you want to do is join a group and start spamming links everywhere.

Let the group members get to know you and then request to become friends with them. Once you are friends just repeat the steps I mentioned above and connect with them further through a private message.

Fanpage:

The first thing you must have on your fanpage is a custom Welcome Page to collect leads. If you have yet to see what a custom welcome page for a fanpage looks like you can view my fanpage here.

For free training on setting up a custom Fanpage Welcome Tab Click Here and view some of the best free training on the web today that teaches you how to set this up absolutely free and no opt-in required.

My good friend Jared Elvidge and Jo Barnes will teach you everything you need to set up your fanpage at the above link.

“Likes” are important but “Likes” + Opt in gets my blood pumping. So you want to set up your welcome tab to be a squeeze page.

The good thing about Fanpage’s is that it allows you to talk more business and really share your expertise with your fans. A great tip to grow your fan base it to comment and interact with other authority pages in your niche through your fanpage which is now possible with the new Fan page platform.

4. Forums:

Sign up for forums in your chosen niche and join in on the discussions that are going on. To find high authority forums in your niche go to Google and search for “golf forums” or “Forex Forums” whatever your niche is. If you have something of value to add to a thread do so. Ask questions, answer questions, build relationships.

Forums are another great way to build yourself as an expert in your niche and start creating a name for yourself. Especially if you are genuinely helping people.

Your play ground in forums is your signature. This is where people will be able to connect with you and click through to go to your website. Be sure to set this up and have attention grabbing text in your signature.

You will not need to self promote on forums if you are providing value. If you are helping people THEY WILL click on your signature.

A quick note about forum signatures: Most forums will make you have to post a certain amount on posts before they allow you to add your signature so just be prepared for this.

5. Guest Blogging:

Google search for authority blogs in your niche and ask to write a unique article for that blog. A lot of blogs will have a section on their homepage that says “Write For Us” or “Become a guest Writer” or something along those lines.

If not contact the blog owner directly and simply ask to write for them. It is important you include a link back to your site if they don’t provide one already which most of them do.

When guest blogging you MUST act like you are writing an article for your own blog except 10 times better!! Offer HUGE value and way over deliver! This is a great way to build credibility and become an instant expert in your niche.

I hope this post helps you to get more targeted traffic to your website.

These are all the cornerstones of driving traffic, but they're a lot of work. I suggest you try doing all of them yourself a few times just so you know what to look for when you outsource.

I agree with your opinion, social media is a powerful tool to increase web visitors. However, I am more interested in how to create not just a visitor but the visitor who can be loyal to our web content.

    Great thread.

I would also include article marketing into the mix. It's a little more trickier now than it used to be. But it still can be very effective with increasing quality backlinks and targeted traffic.
